Sky Sports Shares "100%" Takeover Update

Sheikh Jassim will make a final offer for Manchester United before the deadline later this month, Sky Sports reports.

What’s the latest Man United takeover news?

Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been the frontrunners when it comes to a potential full takeover from the Glazers, with both parties making two offers so far.

However, another round of bids have been scheduled by the Glazers, which led to Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus withdrawing from the race to buy Manchester United, labelling the process as a 'farce'. That is one less competitor for both Jassim and Ratcliffe, and it looks as if the Qatar group are still keen on a takeover.

Sky Sports News reporter Mike Wedderburn relayed an update from chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol regarding Jassim and an Old Trafford takeover in the last 48 hours. It is believed that Jassim remains committed to buying 100% of the club and will make a third offer before the deadline.

“We know that bids are in for Manchester United and the Glazers want a third round of bidding.

“Well, we’ve got some news on that which has come from our chief reporter, Kaveh Solhekol, who says that Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar will make his final bid for Manchester United before the deadline for third bids on Friday, 28th April. He is 100%, we’re told, committed to buying 100% of Manchester United.”

Jassim may be desperate for things to speed up…

It is good to see that Jassim is ready to go again with another offer for United, and he’ll be hoping to avoid the confusion when it comes to a deadline after needing an extension for his second bid.

His second offer was a world-record figure at more than £5bn, so he could have easily walked away with previous reports suggesting that he wouldn’t be reckless and overpay. However, you’d expect his final offer will increase once again after this exciting update, potentially closer to the Glazers’ £6bn asking price.

Jassim may also be hoping for the process to speed up, especially as he previously wanted a deal finalised as quickly as possible to help Erik ten Hag in the summer transfer market. He was even already eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, so he could be desperate to look at making a move happen over the coming months – providing the Glazers sell up, of course.

Rangers: World Cup Star Could Make Ibrox Move

Rangers are a potential destination for Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes, according to a report by MLS ‘insider’ Tom Bogert.

What’s the latest Rangers transfer news?

Ibrox could be central to a real summer of change with as many as nine Rangers players out of contract the end of this SPFL season as things stand.

Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Malik Tillman, Ryan Jack, Filip Helander, Scott Arfield, Steven Davis, Allan McGregor and Kieran Wright are all out of contract just next month (Transfermarkt) – presenting a real headache for Ibrox transfer chiefs and manager Michael Beale.

The Scottish Premiership giants could lose all nine of the aforementioned players unless action is taken pretty soon, with reports also surrounding the future of young winger Josh McPake amid his disappointing loan spell at Queen’s Park.

In terms of incomings, Aris Thessaloniki winger Luis Palma has recently been linked with a move to Glasgow, as has Swansea City striker Joel Piroe. The latter player could even come in as a replacement for Morelos with his contract set to expire in May.

As highlighted by links to Honduran attacker Palma, South America could be a fruitful pool of talent Rangers may look to exploit, with news emerging on Cifuentes.

The Ecuadorian, who featured in Qatar at the World Cup, could leave L.A. for free this winter with his contract expiring at the end of this calendar year. As such, MLS insider Bogert claims Rangers could move for Cifuentes alongside the likes of Leeds United and Espanyol.

The journalist also expects him to be in high demand, explaining via Twitter:

Should Rangers sign Cifuentes?

Having featured at the World Cup and possessing a fair bit of experience despite still being 24-years-old, this could be a potentially shrewd move by Rangers.

Speaking to talkSPORT (via footballscotland), South American football expert Tim Vickery spoke of Cifuentes’ real quality back in 2019, stating:

“He was the beating heart of that side and I think he’s a terrific midfielder. He’s strong, he’s got quality, he’s got a good engine – he’s one of the best all-round midfielders, potentially, that I’ve seen come out of South America in a while.”

High praise for the midfield ace, it’s a hardly surprising Rangers are now keeping an eye on his situation in the states.

£80k-p/w Spurs Man Slammed After 6-1 Loss

Sky Sports journalist Peter Smith has slammed Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro for his "pathetic" defending in the club's shocking loss.

What's the latest on Pedro Porro and Spurs?

Spurs suffered an absolutely humiliating defeat against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon as they lost 6-1 in the Premier League.

Coming up against a main rival in their hunt for Champions League football, Tottenham shipped five goals in 21 minutes away at St James' Park.

Indeed, a brace each from Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak with Joelinton also scoring put Newcastle out of sight before halftime. Harry Kane did pull one back in the second 45, but Callum Wilson then added the cherry on top to make it 6-1 at full-time.

Understandably, all the players came in for heavy criticism in the media but one moment when Porro failed to halt a Joe Willock run really seemed to irk Smith.

Indeed, he told Sky Sports: "That piece of 'defending' from Porro just now against Willock really sums up the attitude Spurs have taken into this game.

"A pathetic, half-hearted waft of a leg as Willock glides into the final third…"

How bad was Porro for Spurs?

It's not been a good time for the £85k-p/w defender of late and after last week's loss to Bournemouth, he sent out a defiant message online saying: " "You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only option you have left."

However, it's safe to say Porro didn't back up his talking with a performance on the pitch. That much is evident in the player ratings by journalist Alasdair Gold for football.london.

The right-back picked up a 2/10 for his efforts, with Gold writing: "Breezed past too easily by Joelinton in the opening moments and was nowhere near Wilson for Newcastle's sixth.

"Doesn't look like a natural full-back. Tried to get balls into the box at the other end and hit one shot into the side-netting."

Tottenham Hotspur ace Pedro Porro in action.

When you look at his stats on SofaScore, it makes for ugly reading too. Indeed, the 5.8-rated Porro was terrible in possession, losing the ball 20 times (the most of any player on the pitch) and completed just 29/43 (67%) of his passes – only Ivan Perisic was worse in the Tottenham starting line-up.

What's more, he didn't defend well either as he was dribbled past twice, made two fouls, and win just 3/9 duels attempted.

All in all, another bad day at the office for the January signing who is fast becoming a bit of a flop.

Moyes Must Drop £65k-p/w Flop vs Man City

West Ham face Manchester City on Wednesday evening in a crucial clash for the top and bottom of the Premier League table.

The Hammers have lost their last two games and are dangerously flirting with the relegation zone, from which they are just four points clear.

Conversely, Pep Guardiola’s men are in scintillating form, having won 13 of their last 14 games in all competitions.

West Ham tackle the unenviable task of trying to steal points away from at home at a side relentlessly chasing the treble.

The assignment has been further complicated by the fact that the Irons arrive in Manchester having conceded six goals in their last two outings and having been wildly unpredictable for the whole year.

If David Moyes wants to stand the best chance of getting any points from the Etihad then he should consider dropping Pablo Fornals, who was anonymous against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Should West Ham drop Fornals vs Man City?

Many were clamouring for the fan favourite to be included after his outrageous scorpion goal against Bournemouth. Unfortunately, he was again restricted to the bench in the 2-1 loss to Liverpool but was awarded a start at Selhurst Park last Saturday.

However, the Spaniard failed to repay his manager’s faith and dropped an underwhelming performance in the 4-3 defeat to the Eagles.

During his time on the pitch, he didn’t register any key passes, shots, accurate crosses or successful dribbles in a miserable showing that meant he was sacrificed after 45 minutes.

Pablo-Fornals-scorpion-kick

It has been a frustrating campaign for the 27-year-old, who has only started 13 top-flight games and has made more appearances coming off the bench.

However, Moyes’ reluctance to include the midfielder more regularly is understandable – this is supported by the fact that the player dismally ranks in the bottom 9% in Europe’s top five leagues among his positional peers for progressive carries per 90, as well as the lowest 6% for successful take-ons.

The Scotsman has often preferred the directness of Jarrod Bowen, or the immense trickery of the skilful pair of Said Benrahma and Lucas Paqueta, instead of the £65k-per-week star.

Although the former Villarreal man’s application and work rate cannot be discounted, the Irons will need more than that if they are to provide a goal threat whilst stifling the in-form team in Europe.

Nevertheless, there is still plenty more opportunity for Fornals this season as his side still remains in the Europa Conference league and take on AZ Alkmaar in the semi-final next week.

Lancashire could head into Sunday’s Roses clash with champions Yorkshire top of the Specsavers County Championship after polishing off Surrey inside three days at Old Trafford. The 2011 Division One winners, unfancied then, are it again having won three of their first five matches following promotion. They completed a comprehensive innings and 96-run victory over a Surrey side lacking confidence and beset by injuries midway through the afternoon. And they have now won their first three home Championship matches in a season for the first time since 1952.The visitors, minus injured Rory Burns, lost eight wickets for 45 runs in 100 balls from almost immediately after lunch to slip from 62 for 2 to 107 all out inside 38 overs of their second innings.Kyle Jarvis, with six wickets in the first innings, was the star of the show again. He added 5 for 49 in the second to finish with career-best match figures of 11 for 119 in 37 overs.Having conceded a first-innings lead of 203 before lunch on the third day, Surrey started their second innings with further disruption following illness to Steven Davies.Burns was ruled out of the rest of the game with mild concussion following a blow to the helmet whilst fielding at short-leg on the second day, while Davies could not bat until ten minutes after lunch having been off the field.Their task of saving the game was made much harder through a tenth-wicket stand of 63 between Jarvis and Simon Kerrigan, who finished with 35 and 32 not out respectively. It was Lancashire’s third successive tenth-wicket partnership in this fixture dating back to last season, with the pair hitting a boundary apiece in the first two overs of play to take the score from 342 for 9 overnight to 350 and ensure a fourth batting bonus point.Stuart Meaker wrapped up the innings by getting Jarvis caught behind down leg-side to finish with 4 for 78.Burns’ absence from the top of the order forced Tom Curran into the role. And although he had never batted higher than seven in first-class cricket before, he did an admirable job for 53 off 104 balls. Unfortunately for Surrey, he was given no support.Tom Bailey had Arun Harinath caught behind in the tenth over before a Neil Wagner slower ball did for Kumar Sangakkara as he chipped to mid-off, leaving the score at 46 for 2 shortly before lunch. Then came the remarkable early afternoon spell which raced the match to its conclusion. Jarvis, bowling the second over after lunch, trapped Jason Roy lbw and had Ben Foakes caught behind for a second-ball duck, leaving the score at 62 for 4 in the 20th.He then had James Burke superbly caught by Liam Livingstone running back from first slip following a top-edge in his next over before Bailey had Davies, batting at No. 7, caught behind. Jarvis later bowled Gareth Batty and trapped Mathew Pillans lbw.Wagner wrapped up the win when he had Curran caught at short fine-leg the ball after he had reached 50.Should Durham complete victory over Warwickshire at Edgbaston, Lancashire will remain top of Division One heading into the next round of fixtures.

Tottenham Hotspur "Pushing" To Appoint "Unreal Attacking Coach"

Tottenham Hotspur are "pushing" to appoint Julian Nagelsmann as their new manager, and they are scheduled to hold "more talks" with the former Bayern Munich boss, according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg.

What's the latest Tottenham manager news?

Tottenham are set to have a meeting with Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim about the vacancy at N17, as the club begin to step up their pursuit of a new manager, with a number of options being considered by chairman Daniel Levy.

Spurs are also said to have made an approach for Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, although it is unclear whether he is interested in a move to north London, while Michael Carrick is also under consideration, after an impressive season with Middlesbrough.

Journalist Alasdair Gold has recently confirmed the Lilywhites have made contact with Nagelsmann, with reports elsewhere indicating he would be keen on the job, which is corroborated by the latest update from Plettenberg.

Taking to Twitter, the Sky Sports journalist confirmed that Levy is "pushing more and more" for the German, who views Tottenham as a "serious option" due to the fact they are a "big club" with "big potential."

However, one potential stumbling block is that the 35-year-old wants to know how much of a say he will have in the club's transfers, while it is also unclear who will be the new managing director of football after Fabio Paratici.

"More talks" are set to take place with the young manager, but he wants to take his time before making a final decision.

Should Tottenham appoint Julian Nagelsmann?

The most exciting aspect of appointing the former RB Leipzig boss is the style of play he would implement at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with journalist Raj Chohan lauding him as an "unreal attacking coach" earlier this season.

Journalist Zach Lowy has also described the tactician as "progressive", which would make him a perfect fit for Spurs, given that Levy is said to be seeking a young, progressive manager who understands the club's philosophy.

RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann celebrates after the match vs Spurs

Although his time at Bayern did not end the way he would have liked, the Landsberg am Lech-born coach can still be proud of what he achieved during his time with the Bavarian club, winning the Bundesliga title, and leading them to the Champions League quarter-finals.

That experience would stand Nagelsmann in good stead if he were to take over at Tottenham, and we believe he would be a very exciting appointment.
