There is plenty of transfer talk surrounding the Hoops currently, as they look to conduct some eye-catching business in the summer transfer window. One player who is being linked with a permanent move to Parkhead is Paulo Bernardo, who impressed on loan in 2023/24 and appears to be keen on a longer stint at the club. A latest update has suggested that Celtic are in talks with him over the move.

Replacing the retired Joe Hart is surely one of the most important areas of focus ahead of next season and Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has emerged as an exciting option for the Scottish Premiership champions. In fact, Brendan Rodgers is believed to be plotting a £10m move for the Irishman, who could jump at the opportunity to be a regular elsewhere, with the world-class Alisson keeping him out of the team at Anfield.
Another rumoured target is FC Lausanne-Sport winger Alvyn Sanches, who Celtic are interested in bringing in alongside both Bernardo and Adam Idah this summer, with the latter potentially making his loan move from Norwich City a permanent one.

According to a new report from TEAMtalk, Celtic would love to re-sign Kieran Tierney in the summer transfer window, and he would "walk back" to Parkhead. The report does state Arsenal are set to sell the defender but that "the reality is they won’t be able to afford his price tag", however, which could put paid to the transfer coming to fruition.

The idea of the £109,000-a-week Tierney back in a Celtic shirt is something that would likely appeal to so many supporters, considering what a popular figure he was before departing for Arsenal. The fact that he is keen on a return also adds to the feel-good factor, but his current club are unlikely to allow him to leave on the cheap, which is a big issue.
The Scotland international was arguably one of the standout players in the Scottish Premiership at that point, hence earning a move to a club the size of the Gunners in the summer of 2019, and he won five league titles and three Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cups apiece in that time.
Tierney made 170 appearances in that time, and his attacking ability was highlighted by a total of 37 assists in that time, and Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko once said of him: "He is an amazing player. Even when I was at City I was watching his games. I think it is good competition for each of us."

It does look as though Celtic will be priced out of bringing the 27-year-old back to Parkhead, however, which is a huge shame, but the hope is that the situation changes and the Hoops are able to somehow regain the services of their popular former defender.

وقال الشناوي في تصريحات تلفزيونية بفضائية “إم بي سي مصر 2”: “جمهور الأهلي هو السند وأعتذر لهم بالنيابة عن نفسي وزملائي بعد الخسارة، لا بد أن يعلم الجمهور أننا كان نحلم بالتأهل للنهائي، وحتى الآن لا نُصدق، ونقدر حزن الجماهير”.
وأضاف: “الفيديو المنتشر للأزمة كان في آخر الموقف وليس من البداية، الجمهور كان يتحدث مع اللاعبين على دكة البدلاء وهم في حالة عصبية، واللاعبون كانوا محترمين ولم يردوا”.
وأردف: “فتحدثت مع الجماهير لكي أهدئهم، ولكن الجمهور استمر في غضبه وأنا قلت لهم (حقكم علينا)، بعد ذلك أخذت اللاعبين وأدخلتهم لغرفة الملابس حتى لا يحدث تجاوز مع الجمهور”.

واستأنف: “هذا هو المقطع الذي انتشر، طبيب الفريق أحمد جاب الله قال لي ادخل الغرفة فوجهت حديثي للمشجع وقلت له (ماشي أنا همشي)، كنت أقصد أن أقول له إني سأتوجه للغرفة وليس سأرحل من النادي”.
واستطرد: “طوال عمري لم أذكر أنني سأرحل عن النادي الأهلي، أنا لاعبًا ضمن صفوفه منذ أن كان عمري 18 عامًا، لن أهدد الجمهور أبدًا، فهذا الجمهور صاحب فضل علي، ودائمًا ما أقول هذا الكلام، وأهم شيء مصلحة النادي، ولا أعلم لماذا حدث ما حدث”.
وواصل: “كنت أهدئ الجمهور ولا أهدده، طوال عمري أحترم الجمهور حتى عندما حصلت على جائزة أفضل حارس مرمى في إفريقيا، لم أحتفل إلا بعد شهر من أجل الجمهور، أريد أن أقول للجمهور، تريدون أن تتأكدوا من شيء رأيتموه على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي، فاسمعوا من اللاعب نفسه”.

India ODI captain Mithali Raj feels that the national team’s players have been grappling with “anxiety” and a lack of “sense of purpose”. This comes even as the players look for any “competitive cricket or any international series, even domestic for that matter” in the Covid-19-affected world.India, runners-up at the T20 World Cup in Australia that ended in March, have not regrouped since, with the BCCI pulling out of the tour of England in July-August and the country’s Covid-19 caseload now second-highest globally.Besides, although the Indian board had announced that a three-team Women’s T20 Challenge would be held in the UAE between November 1 and 10, ESPNcricinfo understands that the BCCI is still some way from finalising overseas participants for the competition. The fate of the proposed bilateral series against South Africa and West Indies, too, remains unclear, with the postponement of the 2021 ODI World Cup further shoving India women’s international calendar into uncertainty.”There’s been this anxiety about what’s the future, what the future tournaments are because right now we don’t know for what we’re training,” Raj told moderator Lisa Sthalekar during an ICC virtual discussion. “There needs to be a purpose. Before, we used to plan for any international series if it is an away-going [tour], so players would accordingly prepare. And if it’s a home series we prepared accordingly, but now we don’t know why we train.”So, sometimes we do feel there’s no sense of purpose if we don’t have competitive cricket or any international series, even domestic for that matter.”Having retired from T20Is in September last year, Raj’s last international appearance came in November during the ODI series against hosts West Indies. She was due to play the knockouts of the inter-state senior women’s one-day league for her domestic side Railways in late-March but the Covid-19 pandemic put paid to that.While top-level women’s international cricket will return on Monday – hosts England take on West Indies in the first of five T20Is in Derby – Raj said that resumption of training has thrown up new challenges for the Indians.”But one positive is that things are slowly improving in terms of access to the facilities; but again, there are a few changes in terms of all the training facilities work on time slots. Like, earlier, we would just walk in and start batting and we would have some good 10-15 net bowlers and we could bat for one to two hours,” she said. “But, now, you have to go in during the time slot you’re given, and maybe the net bowlers are reduced to just two or three of them. So these are the changes as current players we’re accepting. But I think [we’re] having an optimism that at some point we’ll have matches, and that’s why all of us are still into our fitness training trying to keep up to the standards before we were in the lockdown.”As such, women’s cricket in India has had several issues since the end of the T20 World Cup. The national team has been without a selection committee since the world tournament, the competition also officially marking the end of their long-time manager Trupti Bhattacharya’s tenure. Saba Karim’s departure as the board’s general manager (cricket operations) in July further meant India women are without both an administrative as well as a managerial pointsperson. While the announcement of the T20 Challenge in August promised game-time for both the centrally contracted players as well as many others, it ruled out at least four top-flight India internationals from the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League in Australia. By extension, the availability of several international stars, especially those from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and England, for the T20 Challenge has been rendered close to impossible.When asked if India’s contracted players had concerns over the seclusion that life in a biosecure bubble brings with it, Raj said that flexibility and looking after the inexperienced crop of players, including Shafali Verma, is the need of the hour.ALSO READ: Cricket for some, not for all – where does the women’s game stand?”Since we are contracted players, that’s our job, so being in the biobubble – if that’s what gets us going in terms of the matches – I think as players we are okay with being in the bubble and training and preparing ourselves for the game. Somewhere we need to do a little bit of adjustments to get the matches going,” Raj said. “As far as the mental set-up is concerned, we did have a few sessions with a sports psychologist: talking to the players, as a team [too], we were on calls. Those things do help [because] as seasoned, as senior players we understand how to tune ourselves. But the most important thing in the current situation is the young players or the players who are in the age-groups, who’ve just made their debut. For them it’s even more important to settle their anxieties and anxiousness they develop thinking about their future.”If you’re a young player, you’d definitely want to know, ‘I just made it into the Indian team; what’s the next opportunity I will get?’ These are questions that the young players usually go through. Not everyone still has access to training facilities… Again, how do you prep such young players? That’s where the support staff and sports psychologist and come into play, to give them a lot of positivity and keep their hopes us [so that] they keep training.”Raj said while logistical challenges facing the BCCI remain a concern as far as ensuring playing time for its women cricketers go, physical reassembly of the players is paramount to ensuring India Women’s return to action.”I believe so [that things need to be changing]. We do have regular calls with the BCCI officials to see what we can plan in the future. Then again, a lot of these itineraries depend on the situation in the country. Like, in India, there are still a lot of cases; we are actually on the rise in terms of cases, so it’s very difficult for the board to again get the girls going because all of us come from different parts of the country and there are some amount of risks involved in travelling.”Getting so many girls to have a camp is something the BCCI is looking into, trying to organise if they can. It may be a series or some sort of a camp in terms of fitness, so that the girls regroup again. It is very important; I understand that’s there’s been a good four or five months’ gap since the T20 World Cup in March and now we’re into September.”We have been in touch with the support staff and players on calls. But we sort of gel only when we meet. And I’ve seen that the WBBL is happening on time, but with some rules and regulations which is paramount. West Indies are in England for a series. Let’s see how these things get on. Probably that will give us some idea of organising an international series in the coming months for India.”

As per a report from TEAMtalk, Man Utd are interested in signing Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace.
It’s said that United are currently ‘front of the queue’ to sign him due to the fact that Aaron Wan-Bissaka could go the other way as part of a swap deal.

A fee in excess of £50m will be required, but that number will come down in the event that the former Eagle is included in any deal.
Luckily for the Red Devils, it’s mentioned that Guehi is open to the move as he looks to progress his career.
How Guehi compares to Branthwaite
Ever since moving to Palace in 2021, Guehi has cemented himself as one of the most reliable centre half’s in the entire Premier League.
Last season, the England international featured 25 times for the Eagles, but a knee injury in February disrupted the second half of his campaign.

The former Chelsea man missed 88 days and 13 games in total, but he recovered just in time for the end of the season and, most importantly, for the Three Lions’ European Championship camp.
Thankfully, Guehi was able to impress Gareth Southgate and was included in the final selection, and due to the absence of Harry Maguire, the number six started alongside John Stones in their 1-0 opening victory over Serbia.

This gives a huge indication that he’s more than ready to play for a Champions League-level club week in, week out, but as you can see from his averages in the Premier League, his quality is nothing new.

What you can also see from his overall statistics is that he’s just as good as Branthwaite, particularly in possession.
Their defensive approach is slightly different, with Guehi often only making challenges when necessary, and the environment he plays in will have an impact on the stats.
Furthermore, considering whoever United sign will play alongside Lisandro Martinez, Guehi may prove to be a better fit, due to the fact that he’s a right-footed centre-back, unlike Branthwaite.
On top of that, it’s crazy to think that Guehi is only 23 years old, especially due to his maturity and leadership qualities that he shows while wearing the armband at Selhurst Park.
Overall, the two Englishmen are fantastic, and not much separates them at all, but given that Guehi would be a cheaper option and he’ll likely continue to shine for England, he could prove to be a better option.

O Ocupa Palestra entende que a eleição de Leila Pereira caracterizaria um conflito de interesses, uma vez que ela é dona da Crefisa e da FAM e, portanto, credora e patrocinadora do Verdão. E também não concorda com o nome do conselheiro Mario Giannini, que foi diretor de futebol na gestão de Mustafá Contursi.

Strategy punts The Sunrisers shouldn’t necessarily save Rashid Khan up for Andre Russell. That’s because they have two left-arm seamers who can bowl those wide yorkers that Russell struggles against. While Khan has dismissed Russell in the IPL thrice, the West Indian has a strike rate of 184 against him. Instead, Khan could tear into the other Knight Riders batsmen who score much slower against his kind of bowling: Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana all have strike rates of less than 120 against Khan. The pitches are slowing down every day now, and the Knight Riders’ Indian pacers aren’t screaming for attention. So why not bring back Kuldeep Yadav? Although Yadav has struggled, the Sunrisers top four has three overseas batsmen, and each of them prefer pace. The Sunrisers are also Yadav’s favourite opponents too – he has taken ten wickets against them, the most for him against any team. Pat Cummins should look to bowl the incoming delivery to Jonny Bairstow at the top, the way he did in the earlier fixture, when he bowled the opener. It’s a glaring weakness in Bairstow’s game, as he averages 18 to the ball that comes into him. Cummins has bowled in three T20s to Bairstow, and has dismissed him twice. – Sobre o gol, estou muito feliz. Um sonho de poder fazer um gol aqui. Eu comecei com cinco anos treinando aqui atrás. então, é um gol muito importante. Mas estou muito mais feliz com a vitória da equipe do que propriamente pelo meu o gol. Dedicar à minha família que está em casa e não deixou eu me abater porque eu quase não joguei no primeiro turno – dedicou o volante.
O jogador também destacou a importância da semana inteira de treinos que o Vasco teve, a primeira desde a chegada do técnico Lisca. Com isso, o atleta foi a surpresa da escalação e acabou sendo o melhor em campo, com um golaço e muitos desarmes ao longo do jogo.

– Quando ele chegou (Lisca), estaca difícil. Jogos de três em três dias. Então, nesta semana ele focou na parte tática. Para a gente não dar tanto espaço e conseguir pressionar como a gente fez bastante no primeiro tempo. Segundo tempo, acho que a gente deu uma pressão, mas em bloco mais baixo – analisou.
