Arsenal are lining up a bid for Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico and are well-placed to see off competition from Real and Atletico Madrid for his signature, per Marca.

Tagliafico only joined Ajax in 2018 and has made 47 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and laying on seven assists.

What’s the word?

Tagliafico has been in excellent form for Ajax this season, scoring five goals in all competitions, and has been an integral part of their run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Indeed, the 26-year-old played 90 minutes at the Bernabeu as the Dutch side thumped Real 4-1 just last week.

His performances have reportedly drawn admiring glances from across the continent, with Marca claiming both the Gunners and Atleti are interested in acquiring the full-back, along with Los Blancos.

However, the report states that Arsenal boss Unai Emery is in the box seat to whisk him away from the Netherlands.

Tagliafico is said to be open to the prospect of a move this summer as he bids to reach the highest level of European football.

Were he to join Arsenal, Tagliafico would likely replace Nacho Monreal who, at the age of 33, is beginning to enter the Autumn of his career.

Will he adapt?

This Ajax team is a thing of beauty, blessed with skill, pace and youth, and Tagliafico has been one of the stand-out performers within it.

However, we have seen in the past that the Gunners have a patchy record of buying defenders, while the likes of Vincent Janssen and Afonso Alves have shown how difficult it can be to adapt to life in England after leaving the Eredivisie.

It will not be plain sailing for Tagliafico in the Premier League if the move comes off; he has picked up 10 yellow cards this season, seven of which have come in the Champions League, at the highest level.

If he is not capable of maintaining his discipline in Europe, he will have an even tougher time in the rough and tumble of the English top-flight, coming against lightening quick attackers and clubs who turn defence into attack with the blink of an eye.

He may well adapt to life under Emery, and a big part of that will be improving on his discipline.

What he said

In the club’s recent press conference, as quoted by the outfit’s official Twitter account, the 26-year-old forward said: “We have a few games to go…We have to stick together and to try our best…We have to be realistic. We have to just focus on each game, we can’t change anything around us.â€

An honest assessment

These comments do seem a bit defeatist, and in that sense they’re honest. Huddersfield are beaten – their relegation all but assured. Kachunga’s comments on being realistic, and unable to change what’s around them, is indicative that he is aware that the club are done in the top flight.

This honesty is to be respected. The club have to continue doing their best week in, week out, but really the hierarchy’s focus should already be beginning to shift to next season. The Terriers have plenty of work to do if they’re to thrive in the Championship.

Siewert’s players will be as aware as anyone that the Terriers’ slim hopes of survival have now all but evaporated. Hiding behind platitudes helps no-one at this point.Â

وقاد كابيلو رانجواجا، مدرب الأحمال بالأهلي، اللاعبين في مران بدني متنوع لمدة ٣٠ دقيقة، مع بداية المران الجماعي للفريق، وحرص رانجواجا على قيادة اللاعبين في جانب من التدريبات البدنية والجري بدون كرة، وفقرات بدنية متنوعة باستخدام الكرة.

فيما اكتفى الثنائي أحمد الشيخ وجونيور أجاي، لاعبا وسط الأهلي، بأداء تدريبات بدنية واستشفائية في الجيم، وخاض الثنائي جانبًا من التدريبات البدنية والجري حول الملعب، تحت إشراف طارق عبد العزيز أخصائي التأهيل.

وغاب الثنائي عن المشاركة في التدريبات الجماعية للفريق، وذلك بسبب شكواهما من إجهاد عضلي.

وبدأ سعد سمير، مدافع فريق الأهلي، تدريبات الجري حول الملعب، على هامش المران الجماعي للفريق، وأدى جانبًا من التدريبات البدنية والتأهيل في “الجيم”.

يذكر أن سعد سمير يؤدي المرحلة الأخيرة من التأهيل بعد جراحة وتر أكيلس، التي أجراها في وقت سابق.

A fresh shock met Manchester United fans on Friday morning when news of Ander Herrera negotiating a deal with Paris Saint-Germain did the rounds.

According to reports (via Marca), the Spaniard has a formidable offer on his table and is close to agreeing to join the French giants in the summer, just a few weeks after his side beat the Parisians in their own backyard during one of the most stunning Champions League comebacks of all time.

Obviously, while it’s still rumoured at this point, it’s all speculation, but would the Red Devils miss the Spaniard?

No, not really.

Granted, Herrera can be a vital cog in the Norwegian’s three-man midfield system and his wily nature benefits United very much. Still, there is one player in particular who could fill the void, Scott McTominay.

McTominay’s attained new-found confidence under Solskjaer, impressing in shielding his defence and being an energetic figure in midfield. He’s growing as a player and has already created a lot of excitement in Manchester with a permanent place in the side possibly being secured in the near future.

One thing that is certain is the fact that the Scotsman has a very bright future ahead of him.

Although, replacing the Spaniard with McTominay would be a brave decision as he still has lots to prove and needs to show more in attacking areas, but he could definitely give it a good go.

Even though finding a player with similar qualities and instincts of Herrera is difficult to find, United will survive without him.

They can possibly sign a replacement or Solskjaer can stick to his instincts, giving those United born and bred a chance to keep their midfield engine running.

Axel Tuanzebe’s potential is limitless.

However, in order to reach his absolute best, the 21-year-old needs regular football, which isn’t something he’ll get at Manchester United right now. After watching him bloom over at Aston Villa before an unfortunate injury, the Red Devils are reportedly (via the Sun) pondering on extending his loan at Villa Park.

Ever since arriving as a loanee, the young defender’s taken to the EFL Championship like a duck to water. Be it at right-back or centre-back, Tuanzebe’s been a revelation in their defence, helping neutralize some dangerous attacking threat and showcasing his composed defensive skills really well.

While the fairly serious metatarsal fracture seemingly ended his season back in December, the 21-year-old has worked hard to retain fitness and is back in training for the Villains. With the final hurdles needed to earn a playoffs place, Villa will definitely welcome the return of the young defensive sensation.

Regardless of whether they can make the Premier League promotion or not, Tuanzebe’s impressive work means he should be loaned another year to Villa. The rising defender can work on his skill set and can learn a lot under assistant coach John Terry’s guidance, at one of the biggest clubs in England.

The 21-year-old has the ability to become a United first-team regular in the future, thereby saving the club millions when it comes to buying defenders of both the required level and potential.

He’s strong, tall, assertive and fearless in keeping his side in control. However, he’s not yet ready for the big leagues, so continuing his development elsewhere makes sense, as it did with Jesse Lingard during the burgeoning stages of his career before breaking into the first-team.

Tuanzebe should take one step at a time and another year at Villa could help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer receive a more refined, experience defender in 2020.

وغاب هازارد عن الملاعب عدة مرات، لتعرضه لسبع إصابات ولم يظهر سوى في 22 مباراة من أصل 55 مباراة منذ انضمامه.

لعب هازارد 40 في المائة من المباريات ونادرًا ما يلعب بشكل جيد، حيث يحتاج إلى البدء من الصفر بعد كل إصابة.

كان هذا الرقم سيصبح أسوأ أيضًا، إذا لم يتوقف الموسم بسبب فيروس كورونا (كوفيد 19).

لم يشارك هازارد لمدة 243 يومًا منذ انضمامه إلى ريال مدريد، كما زاد وزنه في الموسم الماضي والحالي.

هازارد لم يظهر هذا الموسم وهناك شك كبير في لحاقه بالكلاسيكو أمام برشلونة في غضون أسبوعين، حيث تقام المباراة يوم 24 أكتوبر في “كامب نو”.

ورغم أن بيريز منح هازارد ثقته بعد هذه الإصابة الأخيرة، إلا أن الحقيقة هي أن مشجعي ريال مدريد لم يتمكنوا منذ فترة طويلة من النظر إليه ليكون لاعبًا مؤثرًا في النادي، كما كان ينبغي أن يكون وكما كان متوقع منه.

Nigerian striker, Umar Sadiq, will not be a player that is remembered in Rangers folklore for generations to come following his disastrous, short-lived loan spell at Ibrox.

His reputation was already tarnished to the blue half of Glasgow after a move that heralded much… but failed miserably, and whose only lasting memory at the club was to be publicly criticised by manager, Steven Gerrard, having gone to ground in a League Cup’ semi-final defeat, when he could have stayed on his feet and scored.

Speaking to the Sunday Post this weekend, it is clear that Sadiq is not a fan of Gerrard — whether the public criticism is a mitigating factor or not remains to be seen — and now suggests that he didn’t really want to join Rangers in the first place.

He said: “Gerrard proved to be very different from what I believed he would be.

“At the beginning, I didn’t know anything about the Rangers move. The negotiations were all between Roma and my representatives.

“And when my agent told me about it, I expressed my doubts. I wasn’t sure it was the right thing to do. But he kept arguing it would be good for me and my career.”

It would be hard to find a Rangers fan who would wish, in hindsight, that the move had not happened either.

Making just five appearances, and only two starts, the writing was on the wall for his Rangers future as early as September, when Gerrard implied that the Nigerian was not giving all he could to the cause, and needed to improve to be considered, despite receiving support from both the club and fans.

Still, in his interview, the striker claims his treatment was harsh and unfair, and that it was the club’s signing of Kyle Lafferty that led to his downfall, and he even claimed that Rangers still owe him part of his salary.

“I believe absolutely that I was not given a fair chance to show what I can do. They made me feel like a stranger.

“I started only once (in the League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen) and that was when there were no other strikers available.

“As I say, for me everything went wrong after they brought in another striker [Lafferty].”

“Once I put a ‘like’ on Instagram to a post from a fan – and I was fined £20,000, which was absurd.

“And Rangers didn’t even pay me up everything I was due. They still have to give me my salary for December.”

The whole issue sounds like sour grapes from a player who was simply not good enough. His desperation to pass the blame off onto everyone else and accept no responsibility for himself, speaks volumes about his attitude and it comes as little surprise he was shown the door.

His attitude and lack of commitment to Rangers is all too evident, when asked about the club’s future: “I honestly don’t care how they do.

“As long as I was a Rangers player, I behaved like a professional, giving everything I could of myself to the shirt. But now I don’t want to hear about them and what they are doing any more.”

I am not sure anyone at Rangers would agree that he gave everything to the shirt, as he claimed.

Rangers fans demand, and deserve, players to wear the blue shirt with pride, and accept nothing less than someone who would be willing to run through brick walls for the club.

They did not get either of those things from Sadiq.

He may be glad to be rid of Rangers, but it would be fair to say the fans are more glad to be rid of him.

Leeds United fans have been expressing their love for Marcelo Bielsa on Twitter after a fan-filmed video of the Argentine manager celebrating at full-time against Millwall emerged.

Bielsa has become somewhat of a legend in the Yorkshire city due to his antics; spying on the opposition, handing out sweets to kids and sitting on his water cooler have given Bielsa hero status amongst Leeds fans.

The video shows the scenes on the touchline as the final whistle sounds – the normally reserved Bielsa is seen celebrating passionately whilst hugging his coaching staff as Leeds rescued victory from the jaws of defeat and moved back into second place after their win against Millwall.

With promotion now in touching distance for the Yorkshire club, fans have been vocalising their love for Bielsa on Twitter after his celebrations echoed the sentiment of the fans. Their long wait to return to the Premier League may finally be over soon…
