يأمل المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي إيفرتون، كارلو أنشيلوتي، في فوز ناديه السابق ميلان ببطولة الدوري الإيطالي هذا الموسم رغم تراجعه للمركز الثاني خلف جاره إنتر ميلان.

ويحتل ميلان الوصافة في الدوري الإيطالي برصيد 53 نقطة بفارق 3 نقاط عن إنتر ميلان المتصدر مع مباراة أكثر قبل مواجهة النيراتزوري مساء اليوم، الخميس، أمام بارما.

وتحدث أنشيلوتي عن آماله في تصريحات لشبكة “سكاي سبورتس”، وقال: “أتمنى أن يفوز ميلان ببطولة الدوري الإيطالي، حتى لو كانت المهمة صعبة، لأن إنتر ميلان يسير بخطى ثابتة على القمة”.

وتابع: “أنا متأسف لصديقي كونتي (مدرب إنتر ميلان) لأنه لن يتفق معي في الرغبة”.

وكان أنشيلوتي قد حقق بطولة الدوري الإيطالي مع ميلان كمدرب مرة واحدة في موسم ٢٠٠٣/٢٠٠٤، كما حققه كلاعب بقميص الروسونيري مرتين ما بين الثمانينيات والتسعينيات من القرن الماضي.

The Premier League have dealt Steve Bruce a worrying piece of news, after they announced that Andre Marriner will officiate Newcastle United’s trip to Liverpool on Saturday for their televised encounter with the current league leaders.

Liverpool go into the weekend encounter as the only side to have won each of their opening four Premier League games, in which they have also scored the second-most goals of any side, while Newcastle have taken four of a possible twelve points.

Marriner has so far officiated three top-flight encounters this season, after the Birmingham-born referee oversaw Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 0-0 draw in the opening weekend, before holding the whistle as Liverpool beat Southampton and during Manchester City’s win at Bournemouth.

From those encounters, the 48-year-old has called the third-least fouls per game and the 12th-most fouls per tackle of the 17 officials called on by the Premier League thus far, according to data collected by WhoScored.

Marriner has been keener than some to brandish a yellow card, however, as the West Midlands resident has issued three per game on average – treble that of Chris Kavanagh, the official to have issued the least cautions after refereeing three top-flight fixtures.

Marriner, who first officiated in the Premier League during the 2004/05 season, has also shown a tendency to caution the away side more than the home team this term by a ratio of 2:1.

Assistants Scott Ledger, Simon Long and fourth official Andy Madley will join Marriner at Anfield, while Mike Dean will be in charge of the VAR with Dan Robathan his assistant.

Marriner’s appointment as the referee for Newcastle’s trip to Anfield will spell bad news to Bruce, as Newcastle have lost their last four games with the 48-year-old in the middle (TransferMarkt).

Liverpool, on the other hand, head into the Magpies encounter having last lost a game with Marriner in charge back in October 2017 when Tottenham Hotspur beat them 4-1. Since then, the Reds have played eight, and won five while scoring 17.

One of the Merseyside outfit’s triumphs with Marriner in possession of the whistle also came against Newcastle last season, when Divock Origi struck an 86th-minute winner for Jurgen Klopp’s men at St. James’ Park in May.

Newcastle held Liverpool to a two-all draw the last time the two sides met at Anfield with Marriner in charge, however, although that fixture came in April 2016.

Fabian Balbuena quickly established himself as one of West Ham United’s first-choice centre-backs last season following his arrival at the London Stadium in the summer of 2018, playing the full 90 minutes in their opening 14 Premier League matches, according to Transfermarkt.

His partnership with Issa Diop at the heart of the east London outfit’s backline flourished, and he drew plenty of praise from supporters on Twitter as a result as he became a no-nonsense favourite.

However, a knee injury suffered against Watford in December 2018 kept him on the sidelines until he made his return to the starting XI at Stamford Bridge in April, starting the remaining six Premier League matches of the campaign.

When he started against Manchester City on the opening day last month it appeared as though manager Manuel Pellegrini was once again ready to place his trust in the Paraguayan, who ended 2018/19 with 23 Premier League starts under his belt, leaving Angelo Ogbonna as back-up.

A 5-0 defeat against Pep Guardiola’s side actually led to the 28-year-old being dropped however, and his Italian teammate has gone from strength to strength.

He captained the Irons in their very next game away at Brighton, and has played the full 90 minutes in their subsequent three top flight matches since.

The latest of those was the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa on Monday night, where the 31-year-old was tasked with dealing with a potential handful in Wesley.

In the opening 45 minutes especially, Ogbonna dealt with the Brazilian better than partner Diop according to Football London, with the latter struggling against his physical presence.

Another clean sheet meant that the Italian has been part of a defence that not only has helped the club go on an unbeaten four-match run, but has also only conceded twice.

Ogbonna’s match rating of 8/10 from Football London shows the huge strides he continues to make having made a regular return to the starting XI, and Balbuena looks to face an almighty task to win the spot back.

On current form Pellegrini can’t drop the former Juventus man, while the Manchester United-linked Diop appears unlikely to be left out anytime soon either.

That isn’t great news for Balbuena then, who could be the big loser at West Ham in the coming weeks and months.

Real Madrid proved many wrong with their impressive display against Sevilla, as they won 1-0 in Andalusia.

The build-up to the game was definitely not in their favour.

In the four seasons prior to the weekend’s match-up, they had lost every away league game they played in Sevilla but their triumph at the weekend has now moved them joint-top of the table, alongside Athletic Bilbao. They are second due to goal difference.

Of course, this was their first clean sheet in the ongoing 2019/20 La Liga season, and no one contributed to it as much as Daniel Carvajal did.

The 27-year-old defender couldn’t contain Angel Di Maria last week when Real Madrid lost 3-0 to PSG in the Champions League.

However, he redeemed himself on Sunday; Carvajal registered three tackles, four interceptions and four clearances on the night, completely shutting down Sevilla’s left flank and making it his own.

But that wasn’t everything he did. According to Whoscored’s ranking system, the Spaniard was awarded the Man of the Match award with a total rating of 8.11. Apart from his obvious defensive contribution, Carvajal also registered one assist, one key pass and 87.5% passing accuracy, completely dominating the game.

Not to mention that his assist ended up being the game-winning one, with Karim Benzema on the end of it to score the only goal of the encounter.

Carvajal’s gigantic performance, then, proved critical as Real ended the week in a far better position than they started.

Pep Guardiola’s side eventually splashed the cash to bring Atletico Madrid star Rodri to the Etihad, and it’s fair to say the Spaniard has hit the ground running for his new club.

The 23-year-old notched his first goal for City in the defeat to Norwich in the Premier League, and delivered an impressive performance at the heart of midfield in the Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night.

The Spain international managed four tackles, two interceptions and one clearance in a defensive masterclass, and the performance saw City fans flood to Twitter to share their thoughts on their summer signing.

Many supporters of the Manchester side hailed his “outstanding” display, with one fan in particular claiming he is undoubtedly the “best defensive midfielder in Europe”.
