O time sub-20 do São Paulo alcançou a quarta final em cinco torneios disputados em menos de um ano – foi campeão nas últimas três. Na noite desta quinta-feira, o Tricolor buscou virada diante do Lanús (ARG) por 3 a 2 e garantiu vaga na final da terceira edição Copa Libertadores da América da categoria. Near the top of his list will surely have to do with sorting out Odsonne Edouard’s future at the club. The Frenchman was linked with a move away in the summer transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise, and now it seems that the striker may not leave Parkhead until the end of the season.

Football Insider claim that the forward – valued at £25m by the Hoops – “is willing to bide his time until the summer to get a big-money transfer from Celtic”, and that he is “not in a rush to quit Parkhead and would rather secure the best move for him professionally in the summer.”

If Edouard’s time at the club is coming to an end sooner rather than later, then Celtic will have to be on the look-out for a replacement, and they could secure a shrewd successor in Kasper Junker, with the striker revealing via The Athletic he is open to a move amid links to the Hoops.

The 26-year-old has been a revelation for Bodo/Glimt, bagging 27 goals in 25 league games, and providing a further 11 assists in the competition too last season.

Speaking to 67hailhail, Norwegian football expert Jonas Giæver, said: “He’s a number 9, a fox in the box. I think he’s a lot more as well, he’s very technical, very good with his back to goal. He can set up his teammates and find space in the area. Bodø/Glimt have done it so perfectly, in terms of bringing numbers into the box. He always finds a patch of space and finishes first-time more often than not.

“If you’re looking for an out-and-out striker, who doesn’t need many chances to get a goal, then he’s your guy.”

Celtic of course know all about a prolific Scandinavian forward, having witnessed ‘The King’, Henrik Larsson, bag a tonne of goals for them during his time at the club – he netted a quite incredible 242 goals in 315 games.

His former Barcelona teammate, Sylvinho, remarked that: “His best qualities were concentrated in the penalty box. He was really intelligent in his movement, and he knew how to use his body to win his individual battles. And, of course, he made finishing look easy.”

Whilst it would far too naive to suggest Junker can make anywhere near the kind of mark Larsson did at Celtic, there are certainly elements of the Swede’s game and style of play that is in the 26-year-old.

If the Hoops are looking for someone to become Edouard’s successor, then they must surely try and get Junker.

Apesar de Aguirre ter dado indícios de que escalaria somente jogadores reservas e atletas das categorias de base neste domingo, o treinador do Atlético-MG relacionou outros atletas titulares para a partida contra o Boa Esporte, no Independência, além do reforço Júnior Urso, que deverá fazer sua estreia pelo clube.

O time alvinegro encerrou, nesta manhã de sábado, sua preparação para a partida contra a equipe de Varginha. O técnico Aguirre comandou apenas um treinamento físico para todo o grupo. Em seguida, os jogadores que vão participar da partida realizaram um trabalho tático, enquanto os que ficarão de fora fizeram um treino técnico, para aprimorar as finalizações e cobranças de faltas.

Visando preservar alguns titulares para a partida do meio de semana, contra o Independiente del Valle, pela Libertadores, a maioria dos titulares foi poupado, dentre eles Robinho, que fará sua estreia com a camisa atleticana no primeiro jogo em casa do Galo no torneio continental. Por outro lado, jogadores como Victor, Douglas Santos, Rafael Carioca, Luan e Hyuri estão na lista de convocados e estarão no Horto. O atacante Thiago Ribeiro está recuperado e também será opção de Aguirre.

David Moyes should urge West Ham United to complete a January transfer for AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko to solve his search for Sebastien Haller’s replacement.

What’s the word?

According to Corriere dello Sport, an intermediary has put forward Dzeko’s services as a potential option for the Irons to explore in the mid-season market after selling Haller to AFC Ajax.

Dzeko has endured a seismic falling out with Giallorossi boss Paulo Fonseca and been stripped of the captain’s armband, much to the frustrations of corners to the Stadio Olimpico dressing room.

Fonseca and Dzeko’s relationship is considered to be difficult to heal after he was exiled from the squad to face Spezia Calcio this weekend, but even more difficult to separate with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international due to him earning €7m-a-year (£120k-p/w).

Inter Milan and Juventus are also no longer thought to be keen on exploring the 34-year-old’s availability, though Everton and Manchester City have been linked with potential interest in the £7.2m-rated star by Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness.

Reports by Sky Italia also claim Dzeko is liked by Wolverhampton Wanderers, but that he would not look fondly on a move to Molineux or the London Stadium this month.

Dzeko had scored seven goals in 15 Serie A appearances this season before his omission from Saturday’s 4-3 win over Spezia, that saw Roma close the gap to Serie A leaders AC Milan to six points after the Rossoneri’s 3-0 loss at home to Atalanta.

Should West Ham target Dzeko?

West Ham have to sign a striker in the January transfer window after selling Haller to Ajax, with the decision leaving Michail Antonio as Moyes’ only recognised senior striker fresh off the 30-year-old returning from a second hamstring injury of the season.

Andriy Yarmolenko led the line and scored against Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup on Saturday, but likely cannot be relied on to carry the burden for the remainder of the campaign after scoring just seven goals in 43 Premier League games to date.

Yet whether David Sullivan spends the cash needed to land a new centre-forward remains to be seen, as Claret & Hugh recently claimed that it is increasingly unlikely that a permanent option is acquired after missing out on some of the club’s top targets.

Dzeko would serve as an ideal stop-gap until the summer when other targets can be explored, though, and Moyes must urge not only West Ham to make a swoop but also convince the Bosnian that life at the London Stadium would not be as bad as he may think.

Former England striker Darren Bent was urging Tottenham Hotspur to sign Dzeko not that long ago, as well, as he felt the two-time Premier League winner would be the ideal foil for Harry Kane.

“He’d be a very good signing,” Bent told Football Insider. “He was great at Man City, as his goals to game ratio was crazy and up there with the very best.”

Dzeko scored 50 goals and provided 24 assists in 130 Premier League games, of which he only started 74, during a four-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.

It would also be a long-time coming for Dzeko to line up in east London, with the Irons heavily linked with the ex-Manchester City striker over the past few years after hiring his former coach Manuel Pellegrini between Moyes’ tenures.

اختار الجهاز الفني لمنتخب مصر لكرة اليد للرجال، 19 لاعبًا للسفر إلى السعودية غد الخميس، للمشاركة في الدورة الدولية الودية، المقرر إقامتها خلال الفترة من 16 إلى 22 ديسمبر الجاري، بمشاركة منتخبات مصر والسعودية والمغرب والبحرين.

وضمت القائمة التي اختارها الإسباني روبن جارابايا أريناس المدرب المساعد، بالتنسيق مع المدير الفني روبرتو جارسيا باروندو، 19 لاعبًا بدون المحترفين، وهم:

حراسة المرمى: كريم هنداوي – عصام الطيار – عبد الرحمن حميد.

ويبدأ منتخب مصر مبارياته في الدورة الدولية الودية بمواجهة منتخب البحرين في الثالثة مساء الجمعة 17 ديسمبر على صالة القطيف، ثم يلعب مباراته الثانية على نفس الصالة مع منتخب المغرب في الثالثة مساء الأحد 19 ديسمبر، ويختتم مبارياته بمواجهة منتخب السعودية في الخامسة مساء الثلاثاء 21 ديسمبر على صالة الدمام.

ومن المقرر أن ينضم اللاعبون المحترفين لمعسكر المنتخب الوطني بداية من 25 ديسمبر الجاري ومعهم المدير الفني الإسباني روبرتو جارسيا باروندو، ويشاركون مع المنتخب بداية من دورة قطر الدولية الودية من 26 إلى 31 ديسمبر.

ويسافر المنتخب للمشاركة في بطولة الدوري الذهبي الودي من 7 إلى 9 يناير بمشاركة منتخبات فرنسا والنرويج والدنمارك.

جدير بالذكر أن الاتحاد الإفريقي لكرة اليد قرر تأجيل كأس الأمم التي كان مقررًا إقامتها في المغرب خلال الفترة من 13 إلى 23 يناير 2022، إلا أن الاتحاد المصري لكرة اليد قرر استكمال معسكر المنتخب حتى نهاية المشاركة في بطولة الدوري الذهبي في فرنسا.

Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard scored twice on his Premier League debut for West Ham as David Moyes’ side cruised past Aston Villa in front of watching England boss Gareth Southgate.

Lingard, who left Old Trafford on loan last week, had fallen out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but looked like he was making up for lost time, scoring goals with both feet to secure the victory at Villa Park and perhaps sending the Man United boss a reminder of the type of player he’s ignored so far this season.

Moyes’ side held on to a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Wednesday night, courtesy of goals from Lingard and Tomas Soucek.

Soucek in particular looked lively, finishing off a fine team move for his eighth of the season to open the scoring and give them a well-deserved lead.

Not to be outdone by his teammate, Lingard fired home from range after Soucek broke the deadlock, before combining with Michail Antonio to restore their two-goal lead after Ollie Watkins pulled a goal back for the hosts.

As per SofaScore, the 28-year-old earn a high 8.4 match rating for his efforts, the highest out of any player from either side, including the likes of Said Benrahma and Jack Grealish.

Lingard, who was making his first Premier League start in 13 months, was in inspired form in the midfield, and it’s certainly not a stretch to say that, in particular in the second half, he was one of the main reasons why the Hammers held onto all three points.

The England international proved to be an absolute nightmare for defenders to combat as he completed two successful dribbles from six attempts and was also fouled once as well. This is all the more impressive when you consider the physical nature of Dean Smith’s side, who count Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa among their number.

Playing in his favoured position as a central No. 10, Lingard looked back to his very best as he looks to build his confidence back up following quite a dramatic fall from grace.

By the numbers, he would go on to take 68 touches of the ball, bettered only by the likes of Soucek, Mings and Matt Targett, and far greater than his last season’s average of 24.8 per 90, which suggests that he was playing well above his usual standards.

He also took six shots in total, including three shots on target in the entire game, significantly higher than that of any player on the pitch.

Therefore, while Solskjaer heaped praise on Martial following the 9-0 win over Southampton at Old Trafford, that doesn’t mean that Lingard’s near-perfect performance against an in-form Villa side should go unnoticed.

Lingard was rotting on the United bench but the deal Ed Woodward completed to send him to West Ham could be an absolute masterstroke if he continues to play at a high level.

He’ll either return to United as a much more confident player, one who is ready to force his way back into the team or he’ll fetch a decent transfer fee if the Red Devils decide to cash in.
