كشفت تقارير صحفية إنجليزية أن مدرب فريق ليفربول يورجن كلوب يأمل التواجد في مباراة الأحد المقبل ضد شروزبري، في بطولة كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي.

ويلتقي الفريقان في إطار منافسات دور الـ64 من بطولة كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي، على ملعب الأنفيلد.

وانتشرت تكهنات في الفترة الأخيرة حول إمكانية إقامة تلك المباراة في موعدها دون تأجيل، بسبب تفشي فيروس كورونا بدرجة زائدة في أروقة ليفربول.

ولكن صحيفة “ميرور” الإنجليزية ذكرت أن مباراة ليفربول وشروزبري ستُقام في موعدها المحدد لها سلفًا دون أي تغيير، حتى الآن.

وأشارت إلى أن هناك إمكانية كذلك لتواجد يورجن كلوب مع ليفربول في تلك المباراة، بعدما غاب مؤخرًا بسبب ثبوت إصابته بفيروس كورونا.

وأوضحت أن كلوب ظل في العزل الذاتي الصحي لمدة سبعة أيام وحتى الآن، بعد اختبار إيجابي قبل مباراة تشيلسي يوم الأحد الماضي.

وأشارت إلى أنه بموجب القواعد الحكومية الجديدة، سيكون كلوب قادرًا على إنهاء عزلته إذا جاءت نتيجتي اختبار سلبيتين قبل مباراة الأحد المرتقبة.

وكان ليفربول قد أعلن قبل يومين إصابة بيب ليندرز، مساعد كلوب، بفيروس كورونا.

نجح فريق فيوتشر في الفوز على نظيره بيراميدز، بهدفين مقابل هدف، في المباراة التي جمعتهما، اليوم الأحد، ببطولة كأس رابطة الأندية.

وحل بيراميدز ضيفا على فيوتشر، بملعب استاد السلام، في إطار الجولة الثانية من مباريات دور المجموعات ضمن المجموعة الأولى من المسابقة المحلية.

وسجل هدف بيراميدز اللاعب وليد الكرتي من ركلة جزاء في الدقيقة الأخيرة من الوقت المحتسب بدلا من الضائع للشوط الأول، حيث استطاع المهاجم المغربي تسديد الكرة ببراعة على يسار حارس فيوتشر.

واحتسب حكم اللقاء ركلة جزاء لصالح فيوتشر في الدقيقة 71، سددها ناصر ماهر على يمين شريف إكرامي لتسكن الشباك.

وأحرز ناصر ماهر الهدف الثاني له ولفيوتشر في الدقيقة 90، بعد عرضية أرضية من أحمد رفعت، يستقبلها الأول بتسديدة من مرة واحدة سكنت الشباك.

The January window of 2019 was a torrid affair for Stewart Donald and Sunderland.

The Mackems approached the New Year period in desperate need of finding a striker to lift the burden from Josh Maja’s shoulders.

However, after Maja’s agent convinced him to move to Bordeaux, the Black Cats were quickly left without a goal scorer. It took a considerable period of time for Donald to find the right man but as things moved closer and closer to the deadline, Sunderland were in limbo.

Clubs they negotiated with knew they needed to sign a forward and thus, they could ramp the price up.

With Maja no longer at the Stadium of Light, they now needed two forwards but they ultimately signed just the one; Will Grigg.

As Tony Coton and Donald squared off in the Sunderland board room, the latter eventually ended up paying £4m for Grigg’s services. That was after having a number of bids knocked back.

He is now on loan at MK Dons after scoring only eight goals in 61 outings for the north-east outfit. It’s fair to say he was a colossal waste of money.

At the same time, Sunderland happened to miss out on John Marquis. A phone call from Coton led to Doncaster telling the Mackems their valuation of the forward was at around £10m.

Completely stunned by the news, they submitted a much lower bid that was ultimately rejected.

Paying such money for a player like that in League One would have been madness, but had they not spent such a seismic sum on Grigg, they could have afforded him a few months down the line.

That’s because Portsmouth paid £2m for his services in the summer of 2019. That came after a season where Marquis had netted 26 times in all competitions. He has subsequently found the net on 28 occasions since moving to Pompey.

Their inability to identify the correct target, therefore, has clearly wreaked havoc with Sunderland. Had they signed a striker of Marquis’ ability and he’d hit the ground running, the Mackems may well already be in the Championship.

Dubbed a “proven striker” by Kenny Jacket, this was precisely the type of player that Donald should have brought to the club.

Of course, they now have 26-goal Charlie Wyke in their possession, but if Sunderland fail to go up again, new owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus may just rue the day that Donald spent £4m on Grigg.

At the moment, it feels like now or never in terms of reaching the second tier for Sunderland. Fall short of promotion again, and they may just be thinking about 2019 again as a period of ‘what if?’.

Perguntado sobre a sucessão durante a festa, o atual presidente desconversou. Disse apenas que gostaria de se manter próximo da gestão que vem – ele pode concorrer à presidência do Conselho Deliberativo.

A confirmação de Maurício Galiotte como candidato deve ocorrer na primeira semana de setembro, mês em que serão feitas as inscrições das chapas no clube. No fim de outubro ocorrerá o filtro no Conselho Deliberativo (CD). Para chegar à assembleia de sócios, prevista para novembro, a chapa precisa da aprovação de pelo menos 15% do CD.

A partir de agora, a oposição intensificará as negociações para ter um candidato. Sabe-se, porém, que a chapa de Nobre, apoiada por Mustafá, terá ampla vantagem e até por isso cogita-se que não se lancem outros nomes no pleito. Carlos Degon, vice na chapa de Wlademir Pescarmona em 2014, é um possível adversário de Maurício na eleição.

In a recent interview, former Leeds United forward, Noel Whelan, urged Victor Orta to make a move for Divock Origi in the summer transfer window.

So far this season, Origi has found game time incredibly hard to come by under Jurgen Klopp, with the 25-year-old being awarded just six starts across all competitions by the German manager, resulting in the centre-forward returning just one goal and two assists over his total of 17 appearances in 2020/21.

As a result of his lack of minutes, it has been reported that several clubs, including the likes of Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund, are considering making an offer of around €15 million (£12.9 million) for the £60,000-per-week Belgian international this summer.

And, speaking recently to Football Insider, Whelan urged Leeds to join the race for Origi, suggesting that the striker would be a perfect fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s style of football, as well as a bargain deal for Orta.

He said: “Divock Origi for £12-15 million, would you turn your nose up at that? No, you wouldn’t. He can play a number of roles: left side, right side, through the middle. You’ve got to look at these things seriously. It’s not a lot of money. It’s so cheap. You could maybe go out and get two strikers if he’s available at that price.

“We need options, especially attacking ones. We know Bielsa likes players who can be versatile and we know Origi is that. He’s a good age and we play a style of football that will suit him because it’s similar to Liverpool’s.”

While Origi has never been one of Liverpool’s first-choice players since joining the Reds from LOSC Lille back in 2014, the centre-forward’s record of 35 goals and 14 assists over his 157 appearances for the club does not scream of value for money in a striker.

However, Origi is indeed a versatile forward, with the capability to play across the front line, as Whelan suggests, so perhaps the 25-year-old could be seen as a handy, as well as cost-effective, addition to Bielsa’s attacking arsenal in the summer transfer market.

Ingenious, magical, awe-inspiring. It feels like every superlative in the book has been used for Wolves star Ruben Neves in the last four years.

Signed for a Championship record £15m, the midfielder swapped Champions League football and Porto’s captaincy for the second tier of English football in 2017.

It was a mind-boggling transfer but one which set the tone for Wolves. With the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo and the arrival of Fosun Group, a relationship with super-agent Jorge Mendes was established.

Since Neves’ record move, Wolves have completed several deals of a similar ilk for Mendes’ clients. The likes of Nelson Semedo and Pedro Neto are both on Gestifute’s book, for instance, but the aforementioned midfield wizard is undoubtedly their biggest success story.

Neves has quickly become one of the most impressive and sought-after players in his position in the Premier League.

Links to Manchester City have been discussed but, for the time being, he is still the shining light of Nuno’s midfield.

It’s hard to believe the Portugal international is still only 24 years of age. He plays like somebody who has been at the top for years, conjuring up truly golden moments in front of the Molineux faithful.

When it comes to scoring goals from an improbable range, there are few better in Europe. After scoring his first Premier League goal in August 2018, it marked his 11th senior strike, just one of which had been from inside the penalty box.

Neves is Nuno’s quarterback, the standout and go-to man when Wolves are in a crisis. If he were in high school, he’d be the most popular in the class.

Very rarely does the Portuguese prop up inside the penalty area, something that’s proven to be one of the most eye-catching traits in the top flight. For instance, in August 2019, he racked up a 13th goal for Wolves. That happened to be a tenth from outside the box in Old Gold.

Such is Neves’ tendency to do things from outside the box that, at one point in 2018, he had scored more goals (6) than taken touches inside the area (4).

This season has seen him move slightly further forward. He is making more passes per game in the final third than he has done over the last four seasons. The way he popped up with a rare goal inside the penalty area against Everton in January typifies that.

Neves is now adding another layer to his game, something which is exemplified by his five Premier League goals in 2020/21. Coincidentally, Neves hasn’t scored that many goals in a single season since Wolves’ promotion-winning campaign.

All of this has led to the midfielder’s transfer value increasing exponentially. According to Transfermarkt, he is now worth an eye-catching £45m; an increase of 200% in four years from when he first penned terms in the Midlands.

“He can defend he can attack, he’s so talented,” Jamie Redknapp said in July 2020. “He can do it at Wolves but I think he’s going right to the top of the game, it’s effortless for him,” the Sky Sports pundit added.

Those words analyse Neves perfectly. He is a footballer who makes football look like art, a player who uses the ball like a paintbrush to convey his feelings.

Simply put, Neves is magic.
