Celtic haven’t had everything go their way in the hunt to bring a new manager to Parkhead. The Bhoys have been dealt with repeated setbacks but perhaps the air is beginning to change.

What’s the word?

Lucien Favre has been viewed as an alternative to Eddie Howe by the Celtic hierarchy.

He reportedly has an interest in taking the job but like Howe, is being courted elsewhere. Saudi club Al-Hilal are appealed by the idea of appointing the Swiss but another team were also in the race.

According to Turkish outlet Milliyet, Fenerbahce wanted to bring Favre to the club next season.

However, after discussions took place between the two parties, the Super-Lig outfit performed a major U-turn and decided not to pursue him.

That’s because of the colossal wages the former Borussia Dortmund boss wanted in order to head to that part of the world.

The report states Favre was eyeing €4.5m-a-year at Dortmund – around £75k-per-week. It remains to be seen how much the 63-year-old would be looking for in Glasgow.

Encouraging news

After the constant setbacks of the last two weeks, the news that Fenerbahce are now distancing themselves from the Swiss manager should come as music to the ears of Dermot Desmond and the club’s supporters.

Celtic’s search for a new manager has been a frustrating saga with Roy Keane and Eddie Howe both holding talks before things stalled.

The Keane rumour went away fairly quickly but Howe is still very much a target for the Hoops. Unfortunately, there are a number of issues putting the completion of a deal on hold.

The 43-year-old doesn’t want to return to management until the summer while he’s not a fan of the idea of Fergal Harkin becoming Celtic’s director of football. Instead, he wants Richard Hughes to join him, a companion from his days at Bournemouth.

There is also interest from other parties. Both Brighton and Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on Howe who appears to be a man in demand.

Favre is attracting other onlookers too but Celtic’s pursuit of the experienced coach has now received a boost.

If he wants the same wages as he did in Turkey, they can safely wave goodbye to him. Though, it should be easier to lure him to Glasgow now interest is dying down.

At long last, there is some positive news for supporters.

With the European Super League being the talk of the town at the moment, you’d be forgiven for potentially forgetting that there is still the little old matter of a Premier League clash between Leeds United and Liverpool taking place this evening.

The game between two of the giants of English football has been largely overshadowed by the fury and shock of the top-flight’s big six wanting to break away and form their own elite competition.

Marcelo Bielsa will no doubt have his opinion on the ESL, and it will be intriguing to see what the Argentine has to say either before or after the game tonight.

The Leeds boss also has a couple of crucial conundrums to solve in terms of his team selection, with suspensions and injuries taking its toll.

And with that in mind, below is a look at how Leeds might line up for the Premier League tie against Liverpool tonight.

In goal, Illan Meslier will be looking to keep his tenth clean sheet of the season in the top-flight, and become the seventh goalkeeper to get into double digits for the campaign.

The back four will, of course, see one enforced change after Liam Cooper’s sending off against Manchester City last weekend, and in the club captain’s absence, Robin Koch will be the man Bielsa turns to.

Dubbed by former Leeds man Tony Dorigo as a “rock”, the 24-year-old is in line to make his first start for the club since recovering from his knee injury last month.

The midfield could see a couple of alterations, with Tyler Roberts dropping out for Mateusz Klich, and Jack Harrison coming in for the injured Raphinha – the City loanee missed the clash against his parent club due to the terms of his loan deal.

That should be the only changes Bielsa makes to his starting line-up, with Patrick Bamford set to lead the line once again.

وأضاف: “سيضطر كلوب إلى التعامل مع محمد صلاح بطريقة صحيحة، بالطبع سيرحب بعودته بأذرع مفتوحة، خاصة وأنهم يتنافسون على لقب الدوري الإنجليزي، وعودة محمد صلاح إضافة كبيرة لنادي مثل ليفربول”.

“نفى المستشار مرتضى منصور رئيس مجلس إدارة نادي الزمالك الشائعات التي ترددت في الآونة الأخيرة حول نية مسؤولي القلعة البيضاء التعاقد مع حسام البدري المدير الفني السابق للمنتخب المصري.

وأكد رئيس القلعة البيضاء أن ما تردد حول تفكير الزمالك في التعاقد مع البدري، هو خبر كاذب لا أساس له من الصحة سواء حاليًا أو في المستقبل، مضيفا أن الهدف من بث هذه الأخبار هو ضرب استقرار النادي.

وأوضح المستشار مرتضى منصور أنه يكن كل الاحترام والتقدير لحسام البدري، ولكن لا أساس من الصحة للتفكير في التفاوض معه لتدريب الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بالنادي”.

Former Tottenham Hotspur captain Graham Roberts insists that Jose Mourinho will not get another job in the Premier League, telling Football FanCast that he is more likely to manage Portugal following his exit from Spurs than someone like Wolves, despite the Portuguese connection.

The club finally pulled the plug on the manager’s reign last week.

He had guided the club to seventh in the Premier League table, while they were also humiliated in the Europa League, as they crashed out after a 3-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.

He did manage to take Spurs to the Carabao Cup final, which takes place this week, and in which Ryan Mason will lead Spurs out against Manchester City.

Still, the club’s form recently has been on a downward slide, as they have won just one of their last six fixtures in all competitions, including disheartening draws with both Newcastle United and Everton.

It remains to be seen what Mourinho’s next move will be but Roberts insists that there is nowhere left for him to turn in the Premier League, even if his agent Jorge Mendes is heavily involved with the Molineux-based outfit.

And he has instead tipped him to move into international football when the opportunity arises.

He told FFC: “I think it’d be very hard. He’s been at Man United, he’s been at Tottenham, he’s been at Chelsea. What does that leave? Liverpool? No chance. Arsenal? I can’t see it. And Man City, and I definitely can’t see that. So there’s your six big clubs.

“Everton have a good manager. I can’t see that one. West Ham are doing really well. Why would they want him? I don’t think any other club would appeal to Mourinho.”

Asked about the possibility of capitalising on the Portuguese connection by moving to Wolves, where the pressure is building on Nuno Santo because of results like the 4-0 defeat to Burnley at the weekend, Roberts added: “No, I don’t see it. I think Jose Mourinho probably will be the next Portugal manager when this one goes.”

Um vazamento de mais de dez milhões de litros d’água sob a Arena Corinthians foi descoberto em junho deste ano e causa risco de deslizamento de terra na área externa do estádio, o que tem potencial para atingir a Radial Leste, principal avenida desta região de São Paulo e que passa ao lado da Arena. A denúncia foi publicada nesta terça-feira pelo jornal “Folha de São Paulo” e apresenta dados e afirmações alarmantes sobre o tema.

-O estacionamento do estádio corre o risco de parar na Radial Leste. Vai ser uma nova Mariana – disse um dos responsáveis pelo estádio, de acordo com a reportagem, em referência à tragédia de novembro do ano passado, quando o rompimento de duas barragens causou destruição em oito distritos da cidade de Mariana, em Minas Gerais, e matou dez pessoas.

No caso da Arena Corinthians, há um vazamento de água no estacionamento do estádio, pois o curso d’água passa por baixo do prédio. Já houve um deslizamento por causa de chuvas em fevereiro do ano passado, mas a água chegou somente à calçada da Radial. Agora, segundo a denúncia, o risco aumentou, o que faria a água invadir a pista e colher quem passa por ela. O Corinthians acredita que o deslizamento de 2015 tem relação com o vazamento no estacionamento e realiza uma auditoria interna para investigar o problema – a Sabesp (Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo) alertou para o consumo excessivo de água no estádio, de acordo com a “Folha”.

Além da denúncia do possível vazamento, a matéria ainda apresenta outras possibilidades de risco na Arena Corinthians:placas de granito têm caído das paredes, lâminas de três milímetros de espessura de três metros por um de comprimento já voaram da fachada, a cobertura do estádio está acumulando água por falta de limpeza das canaletas de escoamento, há buracos no piso ao redor do estádio e rachaduras em paredes. Em fevereiro de 2016, vale lembrar, um pedaço do teto da entrada principal da Arena foi ao chão, mas ninguém estava no local no momento do acidente.

Segundo a reportagem, os dirigentes do Corinthians têm conhecimento dos problemas e estão realizando uma auditoria interna com previsão de conclusão para o mês de novembro. O argumento dos gestores do estádio, porém, é que o clube ainda não deu aceite da obra da Odebrecht, entregue incompleta em maio de 2014. A construtora não se pronunciou.

Rashford a doubt for Leeds-Man United clash

While Marcelo Bielsa will have to make do without attacking duo Raphinha and Rodrigo, their opponents could also be missing a key man.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Rashford hasn’t trained all week, and while he will return on Saturday, it gives him little time to prove his fitness.
