 The Verdict: No reason to worry too much

While any report linking Bielsa with an exit is a worrying one for Leeds, it would be a huge surprise if he departed Elland Road this summer.

The 65-year-old’s contract may be on the cusp of expiring, but he has shown no desire to leave the Whites and should agree a new contract before the end of this month.

His standing in the game means he is always going to interest other clubs – Jurgen Klopp has described him as ‘incredible’ – but Leeds fans should have at least one more year of Bielsa to look forward to.

Enquanto Carille e Cuca trabalharam os titulares, Osmar Loss esteve com os reservas. Além dos 16 jogadores já citados, o meia Jadson também atuou neste treinamento, como curinga, servindo às duas equipes. O novo camisa 77 está treinando há apenas dez dias e demonstrou não estar no ritmo ideal. Em contrapartida, outros jogadores ganharam elogios do auxiliar durante a movimentação, como Luidy, Mantuan, Rodrigo Figueiredo e Mendoza.

Loss também aprimorou jogadas de contra-ataque, com tabelas rápidas, espaço curto e movimentação para afastar marcação e atacar com mais jogadores. Além do trabalho técnico dos reservas e do tático dos titulares, também houve um treino físico comandado pelo preparador Walmir Cruz.

ولكن تناقلت وسائل الإعلام وخاصة “Football Daily” بعض تصريحات، محمد صلاح، بطريقة خاطئة بعد نهاية المباراة، والتي كان يقول فيها كما كتبوا: “لاعبو خط الوسط في مانشستر يونايتد جعلوا مهمتنا أسهل في المباراة في الوسط والدفاع”.

وغرد محمد صلاح عبر حسابه الرسمي على موقع التواصل الاجتماعي “تويتر”، وكتب: “كنت أعني أن خط وسطنا ودفاعنا يجعل الأمر سهلًا بالنسبة لنا”.

وأضاف في النهاية: “لم أكن أتحدث عن لاعبي مانشستر يونايتد الذين أحترمهم”.

O São Paulo tem sofrido críticas pelo alto número de gols sofridos em 2017, mas um aspecto serve de motivação para a decisão desta quarta-feira às 19h30 contra o PSTC-PR, pela segunda fase da Copa do Brasil. Todos os gols sofridos da equipe foram no Campeonato Paulista. Nos três jogos eliminatórios que fez no ano, o Tricolor passou sem ser vazado.

A defesa começou o ano como terminou: elogiada. Com Rodrigo Caio de volante, e Maicon ao lado de Breno depois Douglas, o São Paulo não sofreu gols contra River Plate (ARG) e Corinthians e sagrou-se campeão da Florida Cup, torneio de pré-temporada disputado nos Estados Unidos. Ironicamente, nesses jogos a crítica recaiu sobre o ataque, porque também passou em branco. Os dois embates foram 0 a 0 e terminaram decididos nos pênaltis.

Com o começo das competições, a situação se inverteu. Logo na estreia do Campeonato Paulista, o time sofreu 4 a 2 do Osasco Audax, na Arena Barueri. Foi o último jogo que Rodrigo Caio iniciou como volante. Depois, ele retornou à zaga, e a melhora foi rápida. No jogo seguinte, novamente eliminatório, o time venceu o Moto Club-MA por 1 a 0 em São Luis e se classificou para a segunda fase da Copa do Brasil.

Porém, nem a força de Rodrigo Caio na zaga impediu que o São Paulo sofresse. Foram 13 fols sofridos no Paulista, em seis jogos disputados. São mais de dois por partida. Apenas no clássico contra o Santos, na Vila Belmiro, a equipe sofreu um gol só. Nos outros, dois ou mais. Situação preocupante, mas que não deve fazer o técnico Rogério Ceni mudar o estilo ofensivo do time. A ordem é equilibrar.

– Com certeza, não (mudará o esquema). Temos treinado isso desde a pré-temporada. Marcar pressão, toque de bola. Não vamos mudar nada. Vamos entrar com a mesma determinação, para buscar essa classificação – avaliou o atacante Luiz Araújo.

O São Paulo sofre, mas faz muitos gols. E contará com reforços importantes para concluir a missão de vencer e, assim matar o jogo no tempo normal sem a necessidade de pênaltis, em caso de empate. It is thought that he is not making a ‘concerted’ effort to leave but still wants to be informed of any incoming bids, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all monitoring his situation.

Após mais de um mês treinando sem poder jogar, o atacante Vladimir Hernández enfim foi registado pelo Santos no Boletim Informativo Diário da CBF, nesta terça-feira. O atacante viajou com a delegação para o Peru e pode estrear em uma partida oficial na quinta-feira, na estreia da Libertadores, contra o Sporting Cristal.

An update has emerged on Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell, regarding Tottenham’s interest in his services…

What’s the talk?

According to Dean Jones of EuroSport, Tottenham have put together a scouting report on Norwich City attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell. Fabio Paratici is looking to improve Nuno Santo’s squad this summer and the Englishman is one of a number of midfielders the club are considering – along with Franck Kessie, Miralem Pjanic and Marcel Sabitzer.

Daniel Levy must sanction a swoop for Cantwell this summer to bolster Santo’s squad. If there is a chance that he could be available in the coming weeks then Spurs must act and attempt to swoop him up as he could be an excellent addition to add depth in the attacking areas.

Cantwell has 12 months left on his contract at Carrow Road, although Norwich do have an option to extend it by a further year. This means that Spurs could, potentially, convince the Canaries to part ways with Cantwell in order to avoid his value depreciating throughout the course of next season. If Norwich are relegated from the Premier League and then have Cantwell in limbo with Championship football on the horizon and just a year left on his deal, then that could be a real cause for concern.

Therefore, the opportunity could be there for Tottenham to sign him and it could be a smart piece of business by the club. The 23-year-old is a talented young player who could have potential to improve and develop into a key player for Santo over the course of a number of years, which fans could enjoy watching.

Former Norwich and West Ham striker Dean Ashton lauded him as a “wonderful” player earlier this year and highlighted his ability to take opponents on with the ball at his feet.

He said:

“When I first saw him I said to Darren Huckerby, ‘how is that lad not training with the first-team?’. He was incredible. The way he was drifting past players. His speed of thought and his awareness. He’s just a wonderful player.”

The £19.8m-rated maestro already has experience in the Premier League. He scored six and assisted two goals in 30 starts in the 2019/20 season for Norwich, before scoring six and assisting six in 30 Championship stars as he averaged an excellent WhoScored rating of 7.13.

Steven Bergwijn, Erik Lamela, Carlos Vinicius and Lucas Moura managed just six goals in the league between them for Spurs last season. This suggests that Cantwell could be an upgrade on Santo’s existing options behind his starting group of forwards; Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.

Therefore, Levy must work hard to land the up-and-coming midfielder this summer as fans would love to see a goalscoring wide man to complement Kane and Son, as they were missing that with the aforementioned flops last term.
