Tarde histórica e de homenagens em Barcelona! No Camp Nou, o time da casa, que jogou com força máxima, recebeu a Chapecoense para um gesto de solidariedade às vítimas da tragédia de Medellín e em jogo válido pelo troféu Joan Gamper, nesta segunda-feira. O resultado, que fica em segundo plano, foi uma goleada grená: 5 a 0, gols de Deulofeu, Busquets, Messi, Luis Suaréz e Denis Suaréz. A Chape atuou com uma camisa histórica: branca e com 73 estrelas, em referência ao ano de fundação do clube, e viu seus goleiros brilharem.

A partida marcou a volta do lateral-esquerdo e sobrevivente Alan Ruschel aos gramados. Ele jogou como meia e saiu aos 35 do primeiro tempo, ovacionado pela torcida, com uma cobrança de falta e uma camisa trocada com Messi.
Além dele, os outros dois sobreviventes, o zagueiro Neto e o goleiro Follmann, também foram homenageados com palavras do capitão blaugrana, Andrés Iniesta, e com a honra de darem o pontapé inicial para o jogo. Mas as homenagens não pararam por aí: Todas as substituições da Chapecoense foram aplaudidas pela torcida.

Excursão da Chapecoense

O Joan Gamper é uma tradicional competição promovida pelo Barcelona e que homenageia o fundador e primeiro presidente do clube. Pelo torneio,o Barça já recebeu outras equipes brasileiras como Flamengo, Santos e Vasco. O Inter foi campeão em 1982.

A excursão da Chape pela Europa não terminou. Nesta terça-feira, o Verdão do Oeste encara o Lyon, na França, em amistoso e na próxima semana vai para o Japão encarar o Urawa Red Diamonds, pela Copa Suruga Bank. Em setembro, ela volta para um amistoso com a Roma, na Itália, e uma possível bênção do Papa.

Barcelona sem Neymar

O Barça fazia o seu primeiro jogo sem o atacante Neymar, que se transferiu para o PSG na transação mais cara da história do futebol. O treinador Ernesto Valverde apostou no jovem Deulofeu, cria da base, para substituir o brasileiro. E foi dos pés dele que a goleada começou a tomar forma, logo aos cinco minutos. Ele apenas empurrou um fácil cruzamento de Rakitic.

Cinco minutos depois, o Barcelona ampliou em uma pintura de Busquets, de fora da área. Os catalães relaxaram e até viram a Chape crescer no jogo com Wellington Paulista e Luiz Otávio.

Após este momento, o argentino Lionel Messi resolveu ‘entrar’ no jogo. Marcou, mas o gol foi erradamente anulado, depois parou no goleiro e fez novamente – este valeu. Tudo isso em menos de cinco minutos.

Suaréz brilham no segundo tempo e Alcácer perde pênalti

O segundo tempo começou com um gol do Luis Suaréz. Ele recebeu um cruzamento primoroso de Iniesta, tabelou com Messi e furou as redes de Elias. Aos 28, um outro Suarez, o Denis, fez o quinto, em chute cruzado após bom toque de Messi.

Após o quinto gol, o Barcelona colocou o time reserva em jogo e pisou ainda mais no freio. No fim, Arthur Moraes defendeu um pênalti de Paco Alcácer após Khevin derrubar Semedo.

Destaques da Chapecoense

Sem sombra de dúvidas, os destaques da Chapecoense foram os goleiros. Elias, terceiro na hierarquia, começou jogando e fez pelo menos cinco boas defesas. Foi substituído por Arthur Moraes no segundo tempo, que pegou o pênalti de Alcácer. Além deles, mais dois jogadores saíram com menção honrosa: Wellington Paulista, por uma boa finalização, e Apodi, que deu um chapéu em Jordi Alba.

Giovani Lo Celso was snubbed from Tottenham Hotspur’s starting XI once again at the weekend.

It would have been hardly a surprise considering that the Argentina midfielder only returned to this country a day before the trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United, but fellow countryman Cristian Romero started, as did Brazil international Emerson Royal.

All three had been on national team duties during the break and played as recently as Thursday and into the early hours of Friday, but it is rather telling that Nuno Santo trusted the latter two to start but not the attacking maestro.

Lo Celso has started just one of his four Premier League appearances, and in that game against Chelsea, he struggled to last much past the hour mark, whilst he did not even come off the bench on Sunday, thus highlighting his struggles under Nuno thus far.

His chances of earning a regular spot in the top-flight appear to be getting slimmer and slimmer, particularly after Tanguy Ndombele’s fine performance up in the northeast.

As explained by The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, the French midfielder ‘thrived’ in the 3-1 victory and earned the joint-highest rating in his post-game column.

‘Scored a sumptuous strike to drag Spurs back into the game and looked like a proper No.10. Full of nice touches, flicks and skills, including in the build-up to Son’s goal, and was livelier than usual out of possession,’ the reporter wrote.

This spells trouble for Lo Celso as he will now find it even harder to break into the side. That’s a worry for a £55m signing, one who has seen his value plummet since arriving from Real Betis in summer 2019.

Transfermarkt now value him at £19.8m, a shocking 64% decrease in the space of just two-and-a-half seasons. He’s just 25, so that fee should be ever-increasing as he heads towards the peak years of his career.

It’s even more disappointing when you consider the kind of praise he has received during his time in north London.

Harry Winks described him to The Guardian as a “technically gifted player” who is “not afraid to get stuck in”, whilst his former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho dubbed him “phenomenal.”

One figure who must be fuming with the situation is chairman Daniel Levy, as the signing is a mark of his credentials. Usually known as a tough negotiator, the Spurs supremo splashed out a joint club-record fee on a player who has failed to impress much at all in N17.

Indeed, the Argentina international has only contributed eight goals and five assists across 73 appearances, via Transfermarkt.

Levy has endured a nightmare so far with the signing of Lo Celso – the only positive is that the Argentine still has plenty of time to turn around his Spurs career, but whether or not he can very much remains to be seen.

As it stands, they are 17th in the table, having won just one of their first nine matches (Sky Sports). Up front, they have particularly struggled, scoring just eight times while the injury issues for Patrick Bamford have been a major setback.

As per this latest report, the Whites are interested in signing Swift from Championship outfit Reading.

Brentford and Newcastle United are two other outfits also believed to be in pursuit of the 26-year-old.

The Verdict: The next step

After coming through the ranks at Chelsea, Swift has spent his career outside the Premier League – in fact, he has made just one appearance in the top flight (Transfermarkt).

Still, he has impressed for Reading during his time at the club, and is enjoying arguably the best campaign of his career to date. In 14 games in the second tier, he has managed eight goals and six assists, with Royals boss Veljko Paunovic calling him “super-talented”.

Given his solid displays over the years, you would believe he has earned the chance to show of his quality against the elite. Valued at just £3.6m (Transfermarkt), he would hardly cost the Whites a fortune – it remains to be seen whether they make a concrete move for the midfielder.

In other news, this man has been suggested as an eventual Marcelo Bielsa replacement.

Crystal Palace have received a big injury boost regarding Eberechi Eze after it was claimed the star midfielder could return to the matchday squad against Burnley.

What’s the word?

The Eagles travel to Turf Moor immediately after the upcoming international break, and the fixture could mark Eze’s comeback after five months out with an Achilles problem.

He took to the field for the first time in five months on Monday, playing for just over an hour as Palace’s U23s fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Blackburn Rovers and taking a significant step in his rehabilitation process.

Eze’s successful outing for the youth side led to much excitement amongst the south London outfit’s supporters, and already had some dreaming of his return to Patrick Vieira’s first-team squad.

“It is too early to think about a return to the first team after such a serious injury?” @KITTYKAT99 asked The Athletic’s Palace reporter Dan Woosnam.

To which he replied: “Not at all, would think he will be on the bench vs Burnley if all goes well,” providing hope that the highly-rated 23-year-old could be in Vieira’s matchday squad on 20 November.

News that Eze could make his comeback against the Clarets in just a few weeks time will leave the capital club’s fanbase absolutely delighted.

The former England U21 international only arrived at Selhurst Park in the summer of 2020 via a £16m deal from Queens Park Rangers, but he soon established himself as a firm fan’s favourite.

After bagging four goals and providing a further six assists for his teammates in 34 Premier League appearances, Eze quickly became a crucial cog in Palace’s setup.

With the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Michael Olise and Conor Gallagher strengthening their attacking options during Eze’s absence, the youngster will be itching to get back on the pitch, and seeing him in the starting XI will be a frightening prospect for any top-flight defence.
