Liverpool fans slam Richarlison mockery

Many Liverpool fans have been left raging at Richarlison after the Everton ace appeared to make a mockery of their 3-1 loss to Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

As shared by LFC Transfer Room on their Twitter page, the Brazil international shared a photo with his international teammate Vinicius Junior on his Instagram story straight after the latter scored two goals against Jurgen Klopp’s men in order to make Los Blancos favourites to go through into the UEFA Champions League semi-final stage.

Although it could just be perceived as a bit of banter between tow rival clubs, several Reds supporters did not take the post well at all, and made their feelings known over what they thought of it.

Everton fans on Romano’s Kean update

Many Everton fans have flocked to a transfer update from Fabrizio Romano on Moise Kean.

As per a tweet from the Italian football journalist and transfer guru, Paris Saint Germain are currently ‘working’ to sign him on a permanent deal from the Goodison Park faithful in the summer window after his loan deal expires

Kean himself is also unsure over where his near future lies, speaking after his side knocked holders Bayern Munich out of the Champions League.
The former Juventus ace has been enjoying a very good season at PSG, with no fewer than 16 goals scored in 33 games in total over all competitions so far (Transfermarkt). However, he has been far less productive for the Merseyside club, netting a mere four times in 37 matches across two consecutive terms (Transfermarkt).Whether the striker could replicate his form in Paris for the Toffees is unknown, but it has certainly caused a debate over whether they should keep him after his loan expires.

Ex-Celtic man backs Soro for huge future

Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has exclusively told Football FanCast that midfielder Ismaila Soro reminds him of both a young N’Golo Kante and Scott Brown.

Soro has enjoyed a productive first campaign at Parkhead, although the return of Scott Brown from injury in February has seen the Ivorian restricted to mainly substitute appearances in recent weeks.

He started 10 Scottish Premiership matches on the bounce during December and January, but has been an unused substitute in six of Celtic’s previous 10 league outings, with Brown taking his place back in the midfield alongside Callum McGregor and David Turnbull.

Soro has made 20 appearances in total this season, both scoring and assisting once in the same game against Dundee United, and will be hoping to prove himself to be good enough to be Brown’s long-term replacement in Paradise.

And having drawn comparisons to Chelsea’s Kante, McAvennie has backed the 22-year-old to step up in Brown’s absence.

He told Football FanCast:

“He reminds me of Kante when he was at Leicester and also so much of Scott Brown when he came in the team and caused a lot of fouls and got booked a lot, before the maturity came through.

“I think Soro could be a little tenacious player in there, I think he could do a job.”

Claim dropped on potential NUFC takeover

Craig Hope has dropped a big revelation on the potential new owners amid the ongoing Newcastle United takeover saga.

Writing in his latest piece for the Daily Mail, the football journalist has revealed that the St. James’ Park faithful’s proposed new owners ‘do not wish to keep’ any of the staff working at their retail store, with Mike Ashley closing it down and making all of the staff redundant.

Hope has also claimed that the developments around the club store is a move that insiders say ‘points towards a development’ in the proposed deal between Ashley and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) group.

It is understood that the change is one of the conditions of the bid, and there is a mention of incoming owners in a letter that has since been sent to staff with regards to the situation.

Newcastle takeover sign?

There would not be any talk of the potential new owners and what they want to do with the Magpies if there was not still a chance that they could take over.

Thus, it is an encouraging sign that the takeover could still go through for the Toon, even if it is followed by the sad news of redundancies being made.

Nonetheless, the saga does not seem to be dead in the water just yet, with a pending arbitration case between NUFC and the Premier League to come.

It could also mean the end of Steve Bruce’s time at the club, something which is sure to be music to fans’ ears, as one pundit claimed this week that the new owners want the former Aston Villa boss out on arrival.

Charlton handed triple injury boost

Charlton Athletic have been handed a huge boost ahead of Saturday’s massive top-of-the-table clash against Peterborough United.

What’s the latest?

According to London News Online, Addicks manager Nigel Adkins will be able to welcome back three players who missed their midweek trip to Plymouth Argyle. Conor Washington, on-loan Chelsea starlet Ian Maatsen and imposing colossus Ryan Inniss ‘are all set to be back available’ this weekend as they look to bolster their play-off prospects.

The Northern Ireland striker was withdrawn just five minutes into Adkins’ first game in charge at AFC Wimbledon, the versatile left-back picked up a problem in the win over Sunderland, whilst Inniss was a surprise absentee on Tuesday night.

Big decision

All of a sudden, the 56-year-old has an abundance of options and duly has some huge decisions to make. It’s an enviable, but perhaps tricky, dilemma to have at this stage of the season.

Their 6-0 romping of Plymouth moved the Addicks into a play-off position and now they face the tough test of second-placed Posh, who have a far better defensive record than Ryan Lowe’s side.

The three returning players have all been among the first names on Adkins’ teamsheet when fit and available but, having scored six and kept a clean sheet in their absence, the Charlton boss will surely be tempted to stick with a winning formula. It does leave him with a big headache heading into kick-off.

Washington has scored 11 goals, a feat only bettered by Chuks Aneke at The Valley, whilst the former Crystal Palace defender has struck up a very impressive partnership with skipper Jason Pearce at the back.

Maatsen has also proven to be a solid option, particularly in recent matches when he has been deployed in attack rather than at the back.

Only time will tell whether or not Adkins will tinker his starting XI for this crucial league outing.

SAFC fans slam Johnson comments

Many Sunderland fans were far from happy with comments from Lee Johnson following their draw with Accrington Stanley at the weekend.

The Black Cats’ automatic promotion hopes were all but officially ended as they could only manage a 3-3 draw with Stanley despite leading both 2-0 and 3-2. Even a victory would only have been delaying the inevitable, but they are now nine points behind Peterborough in second place with three games left to play (BBC) – they would need to win every match, hope Posh lose all of theirs, and also make up the seven-goal goal difference between the two teams.

Following the draw, Johnson spoke to the club’s media team. Obviously he was frustrated, describing his team’s collapse was unacceptable, but that didn’t appear to please some of the fans at all, with a few saying that he sounds like a broken record. This isn’t the first time that a number of supporters have taken umbrage with the manager’s words.

A video of his latest comments were shared on Twitter by the club’s official account, and it attracted plenty of attention from Sunderland supporters, one of whom disparagingly called him a “walking cliché”. These fans took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.

EFC fans on Calvert-Lewin transfer update

Some Everton fans have been left to laud a transfer update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin as Leah Smith reported that Manchester United made an offer for him.

As per a tweet from the Stretty News and Caught Offside journalist, that offer was recent, but the Goodison Park faithful are demanding a fee of £80m to lure him away from the Merseyside club.

While Calvert-Lewin is certainly a very important player for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, £80m is a lot of money to turn down, and that can be reinvested into a new striker or other parts of squad that the Toffees need to strengthen in the summer.

Selling him to a direct rival in the Premier League is not ideal in the slightest, but Calvert-Lewin’s value may not get any higher than the Blues rate him at right now, and so it may not be a bad time to cash in.

Docherty discusses Gers exit

Greg Docherty has revealed he knows he made the right decision by leaving Glasgow Rangers to sign for Hull City.

The Lowdown: Docherty enjoys Hull success

Docherty made 19 appearances for the Gers, racking up six assists (Transfermarkt), but he never really received a chance to impress on a regular basis and instead spent the majority of his time out on loan across England and Scotland.´

Last summer, he completed a permanent move to Hull, and has managed six goals and four assists in all competitions as the Tigers have earned promotion to the Championship.

The Latest: Docherty shares delight

Speaking to the PA News Agency (via Football League World), Docherty shared his happiness at swapping Ibrox for the KCOM Stadium. He said:

“I spoke to Steven Gerrard when I was leaving Rangers and he said he thought Hull would be a good challenge for me as we could try to win the league.

“But it’s so easy to say ‘go win the league’ – it’s nowhere near as straight forward as that.

“To pip Peterborough we’ve had to go the last 14 games unbeaten, winning 11 of them.

“It’s a majorly gruelling league with 46 fixtures. At the start of the season, there was probably eight or nine teams thinking they could challenge.

“So there’s a lot of relief that we’ve got promotion. Once we clinched that, I thought to myself, ‘Naw, that’s not enough. I want a medal’.

“I’ve always wanted to win trophies. I’m 24 and I can now say I’ve ticked that off. A lot of people have brilliant careers but never win anything, so that’s why I’ll always remember this season and this moment.

“Since Christmas I feel like I’ve grown and really kicked on. I definitely made the right call coming down here.”

The Verdict: The right move

In terms of prestige, Hull cannot compare to Rangers. The latter regularly compete for trophies and will embark on a run in the Champions League next season, while Hull have never once competed in Europe and are only now getting out of the third tier of English football.

However, for Docherty, the move made perfect sense. Unfortunately, he clearly wasn’t a part of Steven Gerrard’s plans at Ibrox, but he has played in all but two games in the league for his new club. Hull have won League One comfortably, and now Docherty can attack the Championship as he continues to improve. At 24, and with 27 goals to his name throughout his career, he has plenty of room for development. There is no doubt he made the right decision.

Derby must not move for Duffy

Wayne Rooney is considering a move to bring Celtic loanee Shane Duffy to Derby County this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by Football Insider, who claim that Rooney would be interested in signing the defender in the event that his side survive relegation from the Championship this season.

It is reported that the centre-back’s parent club, Brighton & Hove Albion, are not interested in reintegrating the 29-year-old back into their squad, with Graham Potter thought to be happy to loan the defender out once again this summer.

Rooney should avoid move

Despite the signing of Duffy appearing something of a coup for Celtic at the beginning of this season, a belief that was only compounded by the defender scoring two goals in his first two appearances for the club, in the time since, the Brighton man has proven to be a huge flop at Parkhead.

While the £40,000-per-week centre-back’s statistics have not by any means been shocking over his 18 appearances in the Scottish Premiership – making an average of 1.2 interceptions, 0.8 tackles and 4.3 clearances per game, culminating in an average SofaScore match rating of 7.23 – these metrics are likely to be inflated somewhat due to the level of opposition the defender has been up against.

Indeed, when comparing these metrics to those of Duffy’s when playing for the Bhoys in the Europa League – in which the £6.3 million-rated man averaged a SofaScore match rating of just 6.38 – it is clear that, when faced with more capable opposition, the Republic of Ireland international is just not up to the task.

Furthermore, Duffy has also come under fire on multiple occasions for his individual errors over the course of the season, with Tom English slamming the 29-year-old’s “catalogue of catastrophic mistakes,” while Kris Boyd dubbed his defending as “pathetic.”

As such, considering the fact that Derby have shipped a considerable amount of goals themselves this season, it would be highly advisable for the Rams to avoid a move for Duffy this summer, as, as recent evidence would suggest, he is certainly not the man to shore up a leaky backline, and his signing should leave fans of the club furious.

If he’s not been up to the task in Scotland, he is not the man to help Derby in the Championship next season, if they can survive the drop.

Wolves fans on Patricio transfer update

Lots of Wolves fans have been flocked to a transfer update on Rui Patricio as Corrie dello Sport (via Sport Witness) report on AS Roma’s interest him.

As per the news outlet, the Portugal international, who is currently valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, is one of a number of goalkeepers named as a potential signing for the Serie A club in the summer transfer window.

This has caused a debate between several members of the Molineux faithful over whether they should cash on a 33-year-old whose price will surely only decrease, or keep him with no reported replacement lined up.

Nonetheless, it will no doubt be interesting to see where the future of Patricio lies when the market officially opens, and if he were to leave, who would the Midlands club have lined up as a potential replacement.

“Take the money & move on. He’s far too suspect at being beaten low, poor with his distribution & doesn’t command his box well enough which could take so much pressure of our defence at times. This is what scouts are for. There’s better out there I’m sure.”
