Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer jokes about protecting his record

[ad_pod ]If there’s one thing Manchester United fans can be proud of this season it’s Daniel James’ performances.Indeed, away from the displays against Crystal Palace, Southampton and Wolves, as well as the extensive injury problems that could lead to more disappointment this weekend against Leicester City, the 21-year-old Wales international has been doing his best to lift the spirits around Old Trafford.Watch Manchester United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Three goals in four games make James United’s top scorer; should he claim another on Saturday, he would become the first player to net three Premier League goals in his first three home appearances since his boss, the baby-faced assassin, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Records are a funny thing, aren’t they? People get very protective over their achievements, and you know what, we don’t blame them. After all, who doesn’t love knowing they’re the best at something? Even if that something is as strange as the most spoons held on the human body (yes, that’s a thing).

Solskjaer recently joked about the lengths he’d go to protect his record…

Everton fans are calling on the club to hand a first-team chance to Anthony Gordon

[ad_pod ]

With Everton’s first-team struggling to get going, and the U23s team still unbeaten, some fans are calling for academy prospect Anthony Gordon to be given a chance in the senior squad.

The 19-year-old has great talent and has already received many plaudits for a dazzling goal against Mansfield in the EFL Trophy, and his potential hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly interested.

His most recent display, against Blackburn U23s on Monday, has prompted some praise amongst the fanbase, and suggestions that he should be considered for a first-team role.

The midfielder split open the Rovers defence to assist Ellis Simms for the Toffees winner, which was his second assist of the season – adding to the five goals he has scored in just five games.

Everton fans’ excitement is therefore justified, and it is true that the senior squad need a spark to kickfire their season, having mustered only five shots on target against Bournemouth.

Here are some of the reactions from fans to Gordon’s latest display, with many believing that he deserves to be given a chance by Marco Silva.

Everton fans want Tom Davies to replace injured Andre Gomes vs Sheffield United

[ad_pod ]

Marco Silva has confirmed that Andre Gomes is unavailable for the visit of Sheffield United, and that has led some fans to call for Tom Davies to get his chance to start.

The Portuguese midfielder is out with a rib injury and his fitness will be monitored on a day-by-day basis, but he has not yet returned to full training after missing the defeat to Bournemouth.

It is another setback for the Toffees who are also without new signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin, and the shortage of midfielders means Silva hasn’t been able to settle on a chosen partnership yet.

The injuries also present a chance for Davies to come into the starting XI, which he has been unable to do so far, and in fact has only played 11 minutes despite Everton winning just two games in the league.

With fans running out of patience in Morgan Schneiderlin, the man who replaced Gomes last week, they have turned their attention to the Everton academy product, and as seen in the reactions below they are keen for him to get his chance.

Newcastle fans slam Jonjo Shelvey’s display in Brighton clash

[ad_pod ]

It would be fair to say that the Newcastle United fans were not best pleased with the performance of Jonjo Shelvey during Saturday’s clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 27-year-old was handed a start in the middle of the park, but was replaced in the latter stages as the Magpies looked for a late winner, which never arrived.

According to WhoScored, Shelvey had just one shot during his 73 minutes on the field, whilst he had a pass success rate of just 71%.

The Newcastle fans were particularly disappointed with what they saw from the Englishman in the first half of the goalless draw at St James’ Park.

Shelvey is actually in his fifth season with Newcastle, but he has struggled to make his mark since impressing during the 2016/17 campaign in the second tier of English football.

It is still just the one win for the Magpies in the Premier League this term, and it will be interesting to see whether Shelvey makes the XI against Leicester City next time out.

A selection of the Twitter reaction from the upset supporters can be seen below:

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold shows off his skills in Instagram clip

In a promo shoot for Under Armour, the Liverpool man attempted to kick a ball through a basketball hoop from behind the three-point line. Of course, the right-back managed this with relative ease as he coolly dinked the ball through the hoop, and then walked off looking like it was just another day at the office.

Unfortunately for Alexander-Arnold, he wouldn’t be able to do that in a game if he wanted to take up basketball in the future.

Either way, it is rather impressive to see the right-back’s accuracy with a football – it was an inch-perfect shot that hit nothing but net.

Steph Curry, eat your heart out.

Tottenham fans are fed up with Christian Eriksen saga and hope he leaves soon

The Daily Star have reported that Christian Eriksen’s representatives will travel to Spain to discuss a transfer to Real Madrid.

It is a long-running transfer saga and as such many fans are now bored of the seemingly endless speculation, with some now even desperate for him to leave.

The Denmark international has been one of Spurs’ best players of recent years with 67 goals and 87 assists in 287 appearances for the club, but according to one fan he risks tarnishing his legacy due to his handling of the situation.

He has rejected contract offers from Spurs which suggest that he wants to depart to the Spanish giants and his actions appear to be unsettling the squad, with teammates Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane also rumoured to be unhappy.

That has subsequently led to a drop in form with only three wins in ten games, and judging from the responses below fans will only be satisfied once the £11.5m man has left North London.

Brahim Diaz should leave Real Madrid on loan

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

Brahim Diaz has not really been a prominent part of Real Madrid’s squad. And if recent reports coming from AS are any indication, that’s not likely to change any time soon.

Los Blancos are reportedly pushing for the young talent to go on loan but so far, he’s been very reluctant to accept. That could be a big mistake on his part.

What’s the word then?

Ever since he was at Manchester City, the 20-year-old talent has been rather impressive.

Back then, he scored 11 goals and assisted ten for their U23 squad and even made 15 appearances for their senior team, netting twice in the process. For that reason, Real’s interest and eventual purchase were not really a surprise.

What was a surprise, however, was their decision to completely freeze him out of the squad. It has been over 140 days since Diaz last featured for Los Blancos.

He made 11 appearances for them across all competitions in 2018/19 and then he was gone – just like that.

Seeing how that trend is unlikely to change any time soon, his decision to refuse to go on loan might cost him.

A chance to shine

The youngster doesn’t really have to look any farther than his on loan teammates to see the full benefits of such a deal.

Both Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos have decided to take a step away from Real in order to fully show what they have in store and what they are capable of.

Now, both of them are thriving with their temporary clubs – Odegaard is excelling at Real Sociedad, making eight appearances in La Liga and Ceballos thriving at Arsenal, with 11 appearances in all competitions.

But if Diaz eventually decides to stay at Real, which is looking likely according to AS, he could put his whole career in danger.

Not playing is the worst thing that can happen to a young and developing player and if this continues in the future and Zidane remains reluctant to play him, his talents could truly go to waste.

And that would be a shame – for him, the club and all the fans.

Let’s hope he makes the right choice in the end.

Liverpool will be in the market for Jadon Sancho, claims German football expert

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

German football expert Kevin Hatchard has tipped Liverpool to be involved in the race for Jadon Sancho, per The Liverpool Echo.

What’s the story?

The Echo grilled Hatchard about the futures of Kai Havertz and Sancho in the Blood Red Podcast, and he anointed Havertz one of the most exciting prospects in Europe – Reds fans were begging to sign the German after his international display this week.

His comments on Sancho may really appeal to the Anfield faithful though, as he revealed that Borussia Dortmund know they won’t be able to hang on to the England international long-term.

He said: “Hans-Joachim Watzke, who’s the CEO, has already indicated that they don’t think they can keep Sancho in the long-term.

“So, if the money was right and Sancho was willing to come back to the Premier League I would expect Liverpool to be in that market.”

The perfect signing?

Hatchard went on to say that the difficulty for Liverpool will be convincing Sancho to join a club where he would undoubtedly begin as second-choice behind Mohamed Salah.

However, Sancho, valued at a whopping £90m by Transfermarkt, has played on both wings throughout his career, racking up no less than 55 appearances on the left and 48 on the right.

Jurgen Klopp rarely rotates his front three, but perhaps that is simply because the drop-off in quality is too big when the stakes are currently so high?

With Sancho, the Reds could comfortably compete on four fronts, knowing that they do not have to pray Xherdan Shaqiri or Divock Origi will step up to the plate every time Salah or Sadio Mane need a rest, but can instead turn to one of the most highly-rated prospects in world football – Sancho was ranked number one in NxGn’s top 50 wonderkids list.

With 18 goals and 30 assists in 66 games for Dortmund, there is no question the teenage sensation would be a big upgrade on Shaqiri and Origi, and by the time Salah and Mane hit their thirties he will be approaching his prime and ready to take up the mantle.

Real Madrid’s predicted lineup vs Galatasaray

It’s pretty safe to say that Real Madrid didn’t really have the best of weekends.

Los Blancos visited the newly-promoted Mallorca on Saturday and ended up embarrassed as they were handed a narrow 1-0 defeat. And now, because of that, Barcelona have jumped above them in the Liga standings.

But for the moment, Zinedine Zidane can’t really focus on the Spanish top-flight since the team have a really tough Champions League fixture ahead of them.

Watch Spanish Football Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Seeing how they couldn’t tally a win in either of the two opening games in the competition, that makes the Tuesday night clash against Galatasaray a must-win encounter.

And with that do or die mentality that Zidane’s troops should have, it seems unlikely that the Frenchman will be experimenting much with his squad.

With that in mind, here’s what we think Real Madrid’s XI will look like come Tuesday night:

Thibaut Courtois is still very much Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper despite allowing 60 goals in the 44 games he has played for Los Blancos so far. Just this season, he’s been conceding regularly, allowing seven goals in seven games in La Liga, and five in two Champions League clashes.

But despite all of that, he seems to be Zidane’s go-to stopper, already tallying 765 minutes to his name so he’s very much expected to start on Tuesday as well.

Watch Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale answer the internet’s weirdest questions in the video below…

The backline should also see no changes whatsoever.

The centre-back pairing of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane is bound to be picked from the get-go seeing how Zidane can use their experience and expertise and the same can be said for Marcelo and Daniel Carvajal, especially considering the latter player was rested last weekend.

One piece of good news for Real is the return of Toni Kroos, who has officially made the squad list, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the German in the starting XI, especially considering the importance of the game in hand.

The same can be said for Casemiro, who’s been one of their crucial players in the campaign and the third man could potentially be James Rodriguez, since the Colombian also started the last game and Luka Modric is still out of the squad altogether.

Eden Hazard will most likely be making his return alongside Karim Benzema as the two will definitely have to put in a big shift on Tuesday night. Seeing how Gareth Bale is still absent, the 19-year-old Vinicius Junior is likely to be given another shot too.
